Buckley is improving but..

I missed that fight. It was close? People were saying buckley was walking away with it?
It wasn't close. Buckley was dominating, but Colby was starting to come on at the end of the 3rd, and Buckley was looking like he might be fading. Then the doctor stopped it cause of a cut on Colby's eyelid..

A lot of Buckley fan boys are mad at me in this thread..lol

How?? Colby was pretty much done. Round 3 was his best round. It was only gonna get worse for Colby

People are acting like Colby had real success in that round, but he only had top position because Buckley opted to grapple and did zero damage. Buckley also worked his way back to his feet before the stoppage.

That was a clear Buckley round on damage.

Covington's corner was going to throw in the towel if the Doctor didn't stop the fight.
I don't think that would have happened without some input for Colby himself...

"Colby gave his input when he chose his cornermen. They have the right to stop the fight."
Per Unified Rules:
"A fighter's corner, at the Commission's discretion, should have the option to retire his fighter inthe quickest and most efficient manner possible, during competition. A corner person havingworked alongside a fighter may recognize and accept what their fighter's capabilities are frompast experience. It makes sense from a safety perspective to allow a corner to retire the fighter. If there is consideration that debris in the form of a towel entering the ring or cage maycontribute to a disruption or confusion in the contest, then colored towels or special towels mightbe a consideration to be used."

If the Doc didn't stop it Buckley most certainly does. Even with Colby hugging him for 1:50 of the 3rd Buckley was smashing him and 24-8 in significant strikes.

Maybe. Or maybe Buckley fades and Colby dominates the next two rounds..We'll never know..

"Well Buckley was certainly up 30-27 if Colby survives the last 18 seconds of the 3rd. Buckley had slowed a little but Colby had slowed down even more. He was the one that was tired and had lost so much blood it would actually have an effect. So even if Colby managed to hump Buckley for the 4th and 5th he loses a decision. Colby is no longer the cardio machine that can spam TD after TD. That is an absolute certainty based on the evidence that he landed only 1 of 8 TDs. Against Leon he landed only 2 of 10. Against Masvidal he landed 6 of 15. Lawler he landed 10 of 18. Usman 2 he landed zero but at least attempted 11. Against RDA he landed 7 of 18. See how he no longer had the ability to spam TD after TD. Even if he gets one he isn't great at punishing with GnP and he was never good at retaining top control."

No doubt

That next fight with Usman will be very interesting if it happens; 5 rounds, if ya please!

But we do know what happened. Buckley won with a stoppage

Nothing premature about it
It’s a good doctor stoppage. Ideally I just hope to see fights end by no time left in the fight or no fight left in the fighter. A stoppage is a stoppage and credit to Buckley for making that happen. It’s just my least favoured method of win.

lol @ thinking there is such thing as a Buckley fan boy

I'm not even sure he would have beat Colby if the fight wasn't stopped..
Well he was beating the ever loving shit out of Colby for the most part, so unless you for some reason think Colby was going to unleash some hidden knockout power he had previously never shown, I doubt it.

Buckley absolutely walked through Colby, doubled his significant strikes and stuffed 7/8 takedowns.

Maybe this is a retarded take, but I think Buckley actually has a sneaky high fight IQ.

I know he tracks as the stereotypical "explosive" athlete [tyron_stare.gif], but I think his pressure and gameplan against Wonderboy was slick af and knocking him out is a legit feather in his cap imo.

His power is obviously a problem and you wonder about the gas tank, but I think his game has developed since Holland and he's going to give even the better strikers some problems on the feet due to his power and craftiness.
