I get what you’re saying. It’s hard to believe a whole nation could just go along with something as horrific as genocide. But the truth is, this kind of thing has happened more than once, and it’s not just some theory. It’s real history.

Look at Rwanda in 1994. The mass killings of the Tutsi population weren’t done in secret. People knew. There were radio broadcasts straight-up telling people to go out and kill their neighbors. Entire communities took part. Others stood by and let it happen.

Same thing in the Balkans during the 90s. Towns and villages saw people getting rounded up and sent to camps or executed. This wasn’t just soldiers acting behind closed doors. Regular people were aware, and some even helped make it happen. Others just didn’t do anything to stop it.

Even right now in China, millions of Uyghurs are being detained in camps. This isn’t some hidden conspiracy. People inside the country know. Some justify it. Some ignore it. Some pretend it’s not happening because it’s easier that way.

The idea that "normal people" couldn’t have known about the Holocaust just doesn’t hold up. History keeps showing us that mass atrocities don’t happen in total secrecy. People always know more than they admit. Not everyone is actively involved, but silence and looking the other way help make these things possible.

It’s not about saying every German citizen was a monster. It’s about facing the fact that a lot of people knew and still let it happen. It’s not some crazy idea. It’s just how people have reacted to genocide throughout history, over and over again.

In those cases really I'd say the ground had been laid for years beforehand pushing racism/bigotry to the point were enough of the population was willing to go along with it or at least stand by and let it happen.

After the holocaust I think you could argue it was "convenient" to play up the idea most of the population of Germany was totally unaware of it even if only indirectly, indeed I believe it generally wasnt focused on a great deal until the 60's when Adolf Eichmann was captured by the Israelis and put on trial. Post WW2 you could argue really the western nations wanted to focus more on the cold war and wanted the West German establishment onside for that and arguably wanted to play down the extent to which anti-Semitism existed in their own nations. I'v seen arguments made for example that Hitler took direct influence from the US anti-Semitism people like Herny Ford pushed in the early 20th century(as well as plenty from White Russians).

I would say that generally a big positive of US sports to me seems to be that bigotry and links to the far right arent as common as they are over here in Europe around football/soccer, at least after direct segregation of sports ended. For years though I'v had the feeling that MMA is basically "filling the gap", offering a sport were right wing bigotry is acceptable, partly I suspect because there was an era were it was mostly a "white" sport but also in part cynically so because its a good way to build up a fanbase who otherwise struggle to be accepted in other sports. Maybe Bryce's extreme Nazi apologism isnt that common from fighters and fans(at least in public) but I suspect it exists in part because the overton window has generally been pushed in that direction for so many years across much of the sport.

Any other sport I can think of Bryce would have been gone from a major org LONG before this.
