Fair - decent odds of a good scrap - just imo for a good main event, better to not match two unproven prospects against each other because then it looks like two no-names who have only beaten scrubs

To the bolded part.. Some really do care about rankings. One poster argued that Cortez vs Blanchfield (spelling?) deserves to be on MSG event main card since they’re highly ranked. Could you imagine?

I’m not sure if these guys deserve to be main event, but it’s an apex card so… I guess these cards are more about a chance to put on a show and be exciting so you can get a chance to be on a PPV or a big event main card.

If they put on a snoozer I guarantee we won’t see them headlining anything again

As for Garcia and Onama, it's Garcia at least that deserves a main event. The dude has bodybagged pretty much everyone on this streak of his apart from Kattar, who he spared for some reason.

There is almost zero chance that they put on a snoozer. I don't think Garcia will let it for for a full round. Gonna be good.

And yeh, I think the Apex cards are definitely meant to showcase up and comers on a tear before putting them onto PPVs.

I don't think they are bad main events for the Apex. Obviously you couldn't sell cards on the road with these guys headlining, but I don't mind that these lower ranked fighters are getting a chance to step into main events.

Hahahah, yeah man - I used to never a miss a card, regardless of quality, but nowadays I only watch PPVs and the odd UFN if it's got enough meat on the bone. I skip most UFN's nowadays, unless they're on at primetime in the UK. Can't handle the APEX cards mostly.

I would be legit curious about the actual effects of weekly cards vs the old style (roughly monthly card). I feel like there was so much more build up for those cards which you would think would be the perfect scenario for driving current social media traffic. Doing embedded style daily docs for different fighters would create speculation and interest while keeping the actual events feeling noteworthy and worth tuning in for.
