International British mother jailed for 300 days over social media post to meet with Donald Trump as she prepares legal action against the UK

You think the reporting by those publications on that claim is inaccurate?

The reporting about Facebook's statement is accurate, we can all see it.

The actual contents leading to the ban are things we cannot see, unless you have something that suggests otherwise?

Do you have any reason to think Facebook isn't telling the truth in regards to that claim? Why shouldn't I believe the reporting here?

You won't find a screen shot of him suggesting the beheading of Muslims because that's ridiculous and probably does not exist. You'll find publications reporting what Facebook alleged, but that's the extent of it.

I don't have an argument for Tommy Robinson, that isn't the point of the thread. It's a pivot @Loiosh is clumsily falling back on to obfuscate from the very real clip that exists of a labor politician not getting so much as a slap on the wrist for telling people to slit the throats of the opposition

Oh, but wait a second, Facebook said Tommy Robinson called for the beheading of Muslims! Got proof? Didn't think so.
Why are you suggesting I thought he was calling for a beheading? Tommy and I used to chat on social media after he got out of his first stint in prison.

Do you have any reason to think Facebook isn't telling the truth in regar dsto that claim? Why shouldn't I believe the reporting here?

First off, the reporting is accurate in the sense that they are reporting Facebook's statements. That's all that's being "reported"

Secondly, do you have absolutely any evidence at your disposal?

Do you have a snippet? Screenshot? Video? Anything? With such an illustrious career I'm sure at least one person has at the very least taken a screen shot of something at all.

Right but do we have reason to doubt Facebook's statements? Why shouldn't I believe them?

I think Facebook's statement and the reporting on it counts as evidence but other than that no I don't. I don't think it's fair to have waive what I cited away though.

Because YOU don't have evidence, I think I made that pretty clear. You don't have a reason to believe them, it's completely faith based.

The better question is why SHOULD we believe them?

First off, you read something that could be bullshit.

Secondly, they weren't making the claim. The onus is not on them.

Thirdly, the onus is on you, playboy.

Some of the things I've read about the UK of late are deeply troubling. An example ~

The UK Has More Political Prisoners Than Cuba

12,000 speech arrests a year, 1,000 a month and 30 a day.

The British economy continues to struggle under PM Keir Starmer, the military is depleted and a pension crisis is on the horizon, but there is one area where the UK is exceeding expectations.

Starmer’s UK has achieved levels of political prisoners not only resembling but occasionally even outdoing those of Communist dictatorships like Cuba, Venezuela and even China.

Freedom House estimated that Cuba has 2,768 political prisoners, Venezuela has 1,953 political prisoners, and thousands more in China. Starmer’s regime and an enthusiastic police force have easily outdone these backward Communist regimes by arresting over 1,000 people a month for social media posts. The full number of political prisoners in the UK remains unknown, but the high number of arrests suggests that Britain may be able to compete with Cuba.

The 12,000 arrests by 37 forces a year are a record high. Speech arrests more than doubled from 5,502 in 2017 to over 12,000 since 2022. increasing by 1,000 or more every year. The internet did not fundamentally change since 2017. The UK authorities however have.

The London Times recently reported that “British police arrest more than 30 people a day for online posts”. London’s Met Police, who have been at the center of some of the worst speech abuses, maintain a secretive operation monitoring social media leading to almost immediate arrests. The Met Police arrested a staggering 5,332 people in 9 years for speech and 1,700 speech arrests in 2023 alone making London into its own speech gulag.....
I've heard about this recently. Why ANYONE could deny that this is frightening and dystopian I don't know. Making a mean post on social media=jail. And it couldn't be like a fine or ticket- they actually are going all the way to putting people in jail. The UK is definitely in a worse state than the US right now despite the division.

I haven't found a screenshot of the post in question but here are two UK publications reporting on it, first the BBC:

and the second being The Guardian:

Something tells me this Tommy Robinson guy doesn't like Muslims very much.
You know why I find this extremely hard to believe? The UK state would jail TR for farting in public if they could. You really think he's going to go unpunished for saying things like that?
And the BBC and the Guardian? Cmon man 🤦🏻‍♂️

Lucy Connolly, the UK mother who was sentenced to three years in prison after her Tweet following the Southport terror attack, is to meet with Donald Trump as she prepares legal action against the UK.

Connolly's arrest came around the same time as Labour (the party currently running the UK) councillor Ricky Jones publicly called for a baying crowd to 'cut the throats' of anyone opposing Britain's open borders (video below).

Jones was cleared, after first being released on bail and given over a year to prepare a case. Meanwhile, Connolly - under special measures implemented by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer - was rushed through the court systems and put ahead of murderers in the case queue and ultimately sentenced to three years in jail. It is believed her early release came following pressure from America.

She plead guilty. She was guilty. She was sentenced overly harshly, but was given, and signed legal advice stating the range of punishment. Would love to see what she thinks she can sue for.

She was rushed through the legal system and told she wouldn't be granted bail, if she plead not guilty. She was advised to plead guilty.

The Labour councilor was acquitted because he was talking about the throats of extremists who had hidden razor blades behind posters on trains used by children, and apparently it was considered hyperbole and not a direct call to violence. He made the comment to a crowd that knew he was anti-violence.

Lucy Connolly posted on social media to burn down hotels housing immigrants, her message was seen at least a million times, and she's on record saying she hates immigrants and doesn't care if that's racist. She has a history of incendiary remarks.

Tommy Robinson is Tommy Robinson, and anyone who knows who he is and doesn't think he's garbage is pretty far right.

The bar for conviction of incitement to violence is pretty high, and Ricky Jones didn't clear it while Lucy Connolly did. Jones remains suspended by his party, though.
Also, Jones was found not guilty by a jury of his peers, Connolly plead guilty. Maybe she too would have been found not guilty but she chose not to take that chance.

We should likely make a MEGA thread on this shit, it's the norm now.

Is this recent?

Because our government confidently told us publicly that the police would no longer be investigating hate crimes not involving actual violence - did they lie, once again?

It shows it's from yesterday.

I waded into foreign politics and didn't know the temperature. Apologies @Croo67 and thanks for the rundown @Loiosh . Good guy for taking that time.

<LynchWink>
Wading into foreign politics half cocked? Sounds like some British posters who think we need their enlightenment.
This is a slippery slope trope. Anyone who is ok with it most likely has their side in power, wait until this power is threatening you. I've read about real violence eliciting a lesser punishment.
That clip of the British soldier breaking down over the sacrifices he saw and the resulting degradation of the UK should be on a loop

Quoting this before he realises it was the Labour councillor who called for throats to be cut, and not the mother who was jailed for three years.

You seem politically sensitive/tribal. *anyone* calling for throats to be slit on the streets is a turd. That's not a party-specific take, except in your eyes I guess.

p.s. the amount of relevant context (that which looks incriminating to her, and makes him look less bad) reveals EVERYTHING we need to know about your sensitive political bias. Tsk tsk. People like you are toxic.
