18 months? About 15 years ago a guy tried to slash my throat with a box cutter, I was lucky enough to move back and caught it across the collar bone. It was his seventh conviction of aggravated assault with a weapon. He got 7 months.

Did anyone actually read the article? He got an an order preventing him from racially abusing members of the public and has breached the order 9 times. Whether you think that there should be a law against harassing people/racially abusing them in public is one thing, but he is in jail for beaches of an order of which the terms of which would be perfectly clear. The article even says this.

And Americans complaining about a lack of freedom in other countries ought to realise they live in the most incarcerated country in the entire world.
