Elections Bringing in Hinchcliffe was a brilliant move by the Trump campaign

It was brilliant for Tony maybe, now his name is everywhere and this will likely draw him more viewers. Don't think offending a meaningful demographic less than 2 weeks before an election is the best move for Trump.
trump dont play safe

But what if the people who were offended were going to vote for Harris anyway?

So it's like you piss off some voters that you'd never get, in order to gain some voters that were on the fence.

I mean the highest population of Puerto Rican voters is in NY, a state that Trump would lose anyway.

Plus I think too many people are assuming that Puerto Ricans were offended, but there seems to be a lot of Puerto Ricans coming out publicly saying it was just a joke and they're not offended.

Yeah Trump basically has this in the bag, you might as well stay home and save the time and effort since he's going to win anyway ;)

Just like the Hillary voters that stayed home in '16?

Nah, this is about momentum. Kamala has none and no one cared about her fake October surprises. Now she's tricking people into showing up to her rally by promising a free Beyonce performance, and doing short podcasts with safe interviewers that no one is watching.

You think its only liberals who saw it as a tasteless joke? Republican Senator Rick Scott disagrees with you.

IIRC correctly, the joke really didn't "bomb" per se in the arena, but actually got a pretty big reaction causing Tony to nod and mumble something like "ya, I see what kind of jokes you like".

But deciphering whether that crowd reaction was being driven by the awkwardness of that being said at a campaign rally, versus people taking delight in a racist joke because they are bad people themselves is in the eye of the beholder.

Edit: Forgot about third scenario, all his other jokes before them were even shittier <{outtahere}>

Every Puerto Rican I know was offended by that joke including me. I have friends on social media who I have never once seen post about politics posting about how they and their home isn't garbage. Just look at how J-Lo. Ricky Martin and Bad Bunny came out in support of Kamala after. The ones that weren't offended are the minority. Unless you think we enjoy being called garbage.

I think Trump's view of a rally isn't much in line with a traditional political event of yesteryear. I don't have issue with a comedian being a comedian, or a roaster being a roaster, even at political rallies - if you do it right. But if you have a strategist's hat on, I think it was very dumb. Partly because that joke was so incredibly lame it's only effect was shock value, whereas there is chance to actually make GOOD political jokes without surely offending tons of potential voters.

Yeah, shitting on minorities is always going to be a hit at a GOP rally but there's ways to do it with with less pushback.

Make fun of Puerto Ricans for always being late, or where they work, or playing salsa music too loud, or for giving us reggaeton. Those would be fine. Just calling the island garbage and then saying "Latinos have a ton of kids!" isn't smart.

A seasoned comic like Hinchcliffe should have known better.

Wiki says there's 457K Puerto Ricans in Pennsylvania as of the 2020 census. That's the swing state with the most Electoral College votes and is vital for both candidates to win. Doesn't take much to tip the scales in a State that is essentially tied in the polls.

It will probably over take ubiquitous "Tony's Gay" jokes..... at least in the short term. People (including himself) are gonna be joking about that til the day he dies lol.

Holy shit, if Kamala squeaks by with a victory with Pennsylvania being a key state, Tony's comic friends will never let him live it down.

"I don't know if I should be taking advice from a guy that ruined Trump's election victory"

"Tony knows a thing or two about fumbling a sure-fire win"

"Madison Square Garden doesn't give Tony the fondest memories"

Right. I think Tony thinking the general public, even at a Republican rally, is gonna be like one of his small club shows or Kill Tony episodes is really dumb. I personally don't care for his comedy and it for the most part doesn't come across to me as the kind that would make me think he's a smart guy in any sophisticated sense of the word; I do think though he's a very good host and conversationalist. I.e. he's much more a Rogan type person, than say a Norm MacDonald type who I do think was frickin' brilliant.

All that said, I've heard so much wild and crazy shit said over the years by Mexicans, Ricans, Black folks IRL and in boxing forums especially since they are all well represented. Big fights would invariably get ugly in commentary with wild insults being hurled and stuff. Add in the PC culture component that seems to be getting pushback on, and Vance's response of more/less "who gives a shit", and Tony's response of basically "you need to get a life Tampon Tim" that it's making me wonder that the internals *might* not be as bad as would meet the eye and the unapologetic route they deem is strategic; rightly or wrongly.

4D chess. Tony is a Kamala plant, gonna get a cabinet position out of this.

People who get their panties in a bunch by some harmless jokes already have TDS and think he's hitler anyway. They're not losing any votes by doing that.

the jokes were well-written and punched down in a funny way. tony is an awful unbearable human being but a damn good comic. that said, you are kind of proving everything people say about trump's movement correct by doing a set like that.

as some have said, i think it was effective at galvanizing those who were already going to vote for trump, but it does you no favors when your opponent calls you racist nonstop (because you are) and then you go ahead and prove them right lol

This was not a case of just inviting a comedian to warm up the crowd. This was a deliberate and strategic move by the Trump campaign.

What's one thing that annoys everyone about liberals? They get offended at EVERYTHING.

Hinchcliffe might be the best offensive comic of the year thanks to his performance at the Tom Brady roast, so they bring him in, he tells some jokes, and the liberals took the bait and instantly started crying racism.

All this did was remind everyone that the left is the party that hates comedy, and that loves being offended at every little thing. Moderates are undoubtedly annoyed by this as well so it might help swing them to the right.

Regardless of which side you're on, if you look at it from a gamesmanship perspective, it was a great move.
It reminds me of Kari Lake's brilliant strategy to insult Arizona John McCain supporters, knowing the traditional conservatives can just be 'so sensitive', so ...fuck them. As she gave them the middle finger in her gubernatorial run against Democrat Katie Hobbs.

Kari was playing the long game, and is just one litigation win away STILL from being installed as governor and proving to all the sensitive people she was correct.

Honestly is anyone here legitimately offended?

It seems like yet another case of people being offended on behalf of others who aren't offended. IE) the liberal/democrat platform.

Op might not be too far off.

Ok Kari Lake, we hear you.

It's a bold strategy, lets see if it pays off for yem.
