I mean, the referendum was his idea. It'd be pretty shocking of him to overturn the result of his referendum.

Not really. If UK is anything like Sweden, public referendums are just the municipal/national governments asking its constituency for advice. They rarely do this without being pressured into it*, are free do disregard the outcome, and have done so in the past.

*Cameron is an outspoken opponent of Brexit.

if they disregard the result there will be riots

Nigel Farage has been pushed to one side in all of the debates and campaigning. But he deserves more credit than anyone for this.

Cardiff votes Remain: 60 per cent In to 40 per cent Out (108,788 to 67,816).

That is also a possibility. But what I wanted to know is, has the british government made any assurances they will respect the ouitcome? Theoretically, they might be willing to risk the riots.

Will Straw, campaign director of Britain Stronger In has admitted to ITV News that the Remain cause is now facing an uphill struggle.

He said: “Clearly, as things stand, we need some big wins in the remaining London boroughs and the remaining big cities.”

Despite the bookies having made Remain the odds-on favourite in the run-up to voting, Mr Straw insisted: “We have always known what a big challenge it was to win this referendum.”
