Economy *BREAKING* Trump Freezes All Federal Loans & Pell Grants

Who gives a shit. I never got any relief for my loans. The stipulations were always "Borrowers who majored in plate spinning and also rob Walgreens".
I payed off hundreds of thousands in student loans out of pocket and some with GI bill. I actually got a settlement in a class action suit against a law school I attended refunding 2 semesters.

I’ve payed off multiple homes, pay for my vehicles now. Minus credit cards I don’t have any open credit lines really.

I intentionally left a small 25k loan open for the purpose of aging my credit and planned to ride it out for a long time with nearly 0% interest.

One day my credit score takes a strange hit on one of the bureau reporting agencies. Turns out that remaining debt got wiped without any authorizations or meeting any of the criteria (we make way more money than you need to have to qualifying).

From what I gather and others having the same thing (on Reddit) I believe it was wiped due to the age of the credit line. I guess the wipes a bunch of old loans first indiscriminately. I ended up getting an email that was a generic letter from Joe Biden telling me he did me a solid / boasting about his loan forgiveness plan.

Miller never actually answered the question asked here in full. He went a a fearmongering campaign towards the end. Miller said two things that were quite funny to me. He said agriculture businesses can apply for the guest worker program and he said automation will eventually do those in agriculture. Logically if someone is accepted into the guest worker program why would they go into agriculture when there are likely other jobs that need my help that can pay me more and without being in the elements consistently throughout the year?

Then with automation I feel like this drum has been beating for years now and the positions have not really changed that much. Data generally points to only about no more than 10% of agriculture being fully automated. So what is the solution in the mean time? Governments have tried using prison labor and that did not work. Child labor is not available in most places..........yet, and the guest worker program is not a consistently good option. This feels like one of those times where you have to make a decision. Do you want to crack down on immigration and risk food prices going up or do you want cheap labor in the hopes of cheaper food prices?

*paid

I see why you felt you deserved a refund :P

This just keeps getting better and more straight forward. You have a week and a half to write an essay as ton why you think your job matters, otherwise accept this guy out and leave your job that pays too much with way less oversight than the private sector lmao

President Donald Trump's administration is offering federal workers the chance to take a "deferred resignation," which would mean they agree now to resign but get paid through September.

A senior administration official told NBC News that they expect 5%-10% of the federal workforce to quit, which, they estimate, could lead to around $100 billion in savings.

Read the article and I'm not sure why they would essentially push unemployment numbers higher artificially. On top of that even if a federal worker did not resign there is still no assurance their jobs would remain. So what could happen is said worker could be moved to the private sector which generally has worse pay and almost certainly would have worst benefits. The only silver lining being that they get paid until the end of September. So, yes, the government saves money but then said government is relying on the private sector to pick up the slack. The same private sector that has historically tried to push against worker protections and the same private sector that themselves rely on government handouts in order to profit, especially the major corps........interesting.

these people don't care. they will chop their own dicks off if it means spiting a lib or two.
Murdock, Elon and Putin have really done a number on them. 3 Foreign dudes who realized it’s fucking easy to manipulate Americans.

I think it will be fine. If not, I find another job and hate trump a little more, if possible. My wife hates him more than I do and she is not that worried and was talking about judges already challenging his policies.
You'll be fine, you're in a law enforcement space. I was just commenting on how the funding dynamic affects people dependent on federal funding, even if they're in local jobs that aren't DEI related.

What is hilarious and sad is that an hour after making this post, my supervisor at my second job let me know that they have to have a meeting tomorrow to determine if my grant funded position is at risk. It would be funny and sad if trump’s policy decisions just forced a dude working to stop human trafficking out of a job. Well, the good news is that I know everything about the subject and I could probably traffick people with the best of them.

The free market in action, Sherbro.

You don't have to stop it to review it though. You can stop the bits that you don't think are needed after the review
to those who have the mental capacities of a child, the government's explanation makes perfect sense.

we have to close the border completely to figure out what's going on. we need to completely stop funding for all research to figure out if there's any problem with it. we need to rename the gulf of mexico because it's totally unfair that it's called that.

this administration isn't communicating with educated, intelligent people. it's messaging is for the dumbasses who voted them in.

Let's release all criminals while we review their sentences in case anyone is falsely imprisoned.

They are going to back fill positions with Trump and GOP loyalists. Stephen Miller essentially said there are too many people in government positions that vote democrat. This is all part of their plan. They told us their plan. People like the guy you quoted denied it was real, and now here it is coming to fruition.

will you guys ever realize your never going to beat trump with bullshit spins. That is why you lost the election, you are only going to beat him with truth and better policies, neither of which the democrats seemed to recognize
Democrats are utter trash right now.

i don't know why people are surprised. project 2025 literally described this very fucking thing, in detail.

everyone shrugged it off as improbable, but they're following their blueprint to the letter now, and we're not even 10 days in. there's tons of fun stuff in there, like banning porn and labeling anyone who produces it as a sexual predator.

christian nationalism is coming to the US and there is pretty much nothing that can stop it at this point.

Well, I might just be a dei hire. Only male in an office of 22 women. I actually brought that up in my interview that I was an out of the box candidate being the only male being considered for the job and that it made me unique and could bring new ideas and viewpoints to the office.

If they weren't underestimating him they wouldn't have run a senile old bloke against him initially.
You have a short memory. They ran him because they were short sighted and corrupt. He polled highest against Trump during the democrat primary leading up to the 2020 election. Then the rest of them simultaneously dropped out of the primaries as instructed by their party.

Well yeah but he was four years older having done a stressful job for four years by the second time around. I'm not talking about 2020.

It wasn’t that long ago. The guy was visibly falling apart back then too.
