BREAKING Next Gen Games To Be 70 Bucks

LOL exactly. It's rare that I pay full price for any game.
The last game I paid full price for was animal crossing before that if had been ages I don’t even remember the last time I got a game full price.

Quarantine and being sent home for 2 weeks made me say whatever though haha.

Why do we expect games to always be the same price with inflation rising every year? Its taken long enough, but I doubt many will follow suit. Its too risky. We're in an age where people will not think twice about spending 1k on a phone but cry out in agony about a 599 console lol.

That phone does an infinity more than a console. Most people also use a phone like 5 - 7 hours a day compared to an hour or two a week on a console. And take and show it everywhere, from work to social situations.
There’s a big difference between showing the latest iPhone / Samsung or having a janky ass Chinese crap phone, in these situations.
Nobody cares if you have a Switch, a PS4 or the latest PC gaming rig at home.

And phones have seriously intruded on console territory as a gaming platform. Start creeping out of the generally accepted price range for consoles and games, and they’ll find themselves relegated to niche category behind smartphones and PCs for gaming.

I suspect many people will complain but honesty I'm surprised it took this long. I remember growing up nearly paying the same for an experience that lasted 2 or 3 hours. These AAA games cost a lot to produce and I think it is only fair to pay a bit more.
That's because of bullshit microtransactions and pay-to-play pricing models.

If they actually gave you every bit of content they ever released (every skin, every weapon, every DLC that isn't a major expansion in the classic sense) I doubt anyone would mind paying $95 for a game-- the price adjusted for inflation from $50 MSRP in 1990.

One thing to consider is also many publishers have been experiencing record profits the past few years. Their CEOs get massive bonuses while laying off hundreds of people. Game dev salaries also haven't gone up and tons of studios outsource to cheaper markets. Don't fall for the lies and corporate speak.

Thats true but you can buy a phone that is 95% as good as the 1k phones for half the price...

Thats my response.

And jesus spending 7 hours on a phone? Thats a whole work day, damn. And why are you acting like there are only Samsungs/iPhones and janky Chinese phones. Many different high quality brands lie in the middle that do things just aswell as the top tier phones for a fraction of the price. And people carrying the 1k phones as a stunt or accessory, just adds to my point. Theyre buying a brand to boost their own image to others [who dont give a shit].

Lol this is the type of attitude you have when you allow gaming companies to bend you over and fuck you dry in the ass. Most games cost fuck all to make and are just reused assets stuffed full of micro transactions.
Most of the money that gets spent on these games is marketing and making them look nice for idiots to buy.

I have over 50 PS4 games, not one of them has micro transactions. Do research before buying a game

I hate first person shooters and free to play games

All I'm saying is that some triple A titles priced at 70 dollars is fine with me. I think it would be a bad decision to make all games 70 dollars. Get a higher paying job or wait for discount. Problem solved

Guessing its because Sony and Microsoft need to offset their new console manufacturing costs.

Especially weird that Playstation(and maybe XBox) sell more units digitally instead of physical.

How old are you? $70 was normal for a cartridge game 25 years ago. $70 in 2020/2021 isn’t bad at all, especially considering how expensive it is to make games now.

Fitgirl repacks of next-gen titles to remain at $0

I think you got the wrong person, read my posts in this thread.

I started playing fortnite. It's free to play but you have to spend around 20 dollars just to get 1 skin. That's a third of the price of a full retail game and it took minimal effort to make that skin. It's ridiculous. These game companies are raking in money hand over fist.

shit. That 10 bucks could really get me out of a jam
