BREAKING Next Gen Games To Be 70 Bucks

Why do we expect games to always be the same price with inflation rising every year? Its taken long enough, but I doubt many will follow suit. Its too risky. We're in an age where people will not think twice about spending 1k on a phone but cry out in agony about a 599 console lol.

I can pay for my 1k phone over two years.

Does GameStop have a finance plan?

Don’t think it’s that bad personally, development costs are upwards of 100m for big games these days.

Haven't we already seen prices like this, even on Steam?

Shit I paid $100 for Soul Calibur 6 on steam to get the "deluxe" edition then 6 months later they are hitting me up for more money to buy the next season. Console release for deluxe at least gave you a physical copy and a freaking big ass statue.

Now I just wait for the innevitable 50%+ Steam sale and don't buy shit on release unless I REALLY need it.

Damn. That probably means $90 in Canada. New PS4 and Xbone games are already $79.99
the good news it's in Canadian moneys so really the cost is $79.99.

The bad news is I’m paid in canadian money

Does that come with all the DLC season whatevers?

Sports games suck ass. 2K never improves, Madden is trash. Only games I'd even consider paying $70 is cd projekt red or rockstar.

I suspect many people will complain but honesty I'm surprised it took this long. I remember growing up nearly paying the same for an experience that lasted 2 or 3 hours. These AAA games cost a lot to produce and I think it is only fair to pay a bit more.
I think when N64 came out their games were 70 bucks. Kind of crazy they have stayed this cheap. PS1 actually dropped the price from what was standard in the previous gen. SNES and Genesis I believe we’re 50 and PS1 games were 40 on release. That was due to CDs being cheaper than cartridge games. It is a little crazy to think of that games were almost the same prices 25+ years ago

Gen/SNES were normally $60 at release with quite a few being $70.
Imagine paying over $112 in 2020 for Shaq Fu.

$20 on steam in a year
Yep. In all honesty, do we really need to play games on day 1? Theyre not like movies, where shit is easily spoiled. I went out of my way to see the spoilers of last of us 2.

Back in the day, only time games were cheap were if they were used or a Greatest Hits title.

Now, a little patience is all thats required.

Fuck, i didnt get a ps4 until god of war just came out. Now, if ps5 comes with god of war, ill have to spring.

Hah, me too! I wanted it immediately, but i waited, got it for $30, and loved the fuck out of it.

I noticed there is a shit ton of women characters in this one. They definitely had an agenda, but it didnt bother me much. I liked most of them and the game is fun as fuck.

How old are you? $70 was normal for a cartridge game 25 years ago. $70 in 2020/2021 isn’t bad at all, especially considering how expensive it is to make games now.

I don't care about that and no consumer should. It's classic corporate speak to make them look like the little engine that could. When their costs get lowered and profits rise, do we get a cut? Nope so why should I ever care about the operating costs of a business I don't own or work for.

The video game market has faster growth than movies, music, books and TV combined. Those CEOs can take a few million off their bloated salaries and bonus packages if "the costs are too high." I wonder how much waste goes on in the industry too?

They also sell us ripped out content, mircrotransactions, gambling boxes and the worst when talking about consoles, pay to play online. None of those new revenue streams existed 25 years ago either.

Spending $1000 on a phone in this day and age is retarded. I have a Samsung A20 which retails at around $150 and it has 6.4" Infinity Display (HD+) + Super AMOLED, 13MP main camera w/LED Flash + 8MP front-facing camera. It also has a dual camera on the back for wide angle photos, 1.8 GHz Octa-Core processor, Finger print sensor, and 3GB RAM / 32GB ROM + Expandable up to 512GB.

I don't really game on my phone, but it can run pretty much any thing that's out there. I just don't see the purpose of spending $1000 on a phone these days when the budget phones are so good.

Yes they do. There are plenty of ways to finance a console. Best Buy offers interest free financing if you have one of their credit cards. Pay Pal and Amazon offers 0% financing on just about anything as well. Or you could just put it on a credit card, but then you would have to pay a little bit on interest.

I didn't know that about either store.

The only time I ever heard of someone financing a console was years ago when I read an article about Rent to Own, where a PS3 (yes 3) would end up costing over 3k lmao

Holy shit! That's insane...:D I'll probably get mine at Best Buy as I have their card. I'll finance it for a year, but probably pay it off earlier. I just did that with a tv a little less than a year ago. They also offer reward points if you charge it normally with interest, but I like having a little cushion of time to pay it off.
