I was 50/50 on the virus coming from the market or lab. After Pompeo, I am like 60% to wards believing it is the lab.

There is nothing in that interview that leaves me believing they have evidence it's a bio/lab weapon.

I have been to China and if you want to live in a metro, it is as expensive as any in the u.s. If you go to a rural area, it drops off but that is like comparing rural Oklahoma to San Francisco. You have a country of 1 billion people and you want to stare at the Podunk section.

Yes I know the the Tier 1 , 2 and 3 cities have modern amenities and medical care, but most of the country is still developing. That's my point, that comparing China to the US by looking at the top tier cities is
not an apt comparison, because the vast majority of the US does have access to great medical care.

The interview does not say it is a weapon. Pompeo misspoke at 1 point, appearing to suggest he believed it is man-made, but then corrected himself by saying he does not dispute the intel community's assesement it is not man-made.

Escaping from the lab does not mean it is a man made virus or that it was deliberately leaked.

People shouldnt get hung up on it coming from the lab. Last year, there were job postings in Wuhan to study bat corona viruses. So, they were studying it in a lab. Big woop. There are bunches of experts that have come forward and said that it wasn't a weapon due to it not performing as expected as models would indicate and if someone wanted to response something, there are clear methods to use to weaponize a virus. The virus is acting in a manner that doesn't align with what present scientific models would indicate. It likely got leaked from the lab accidently or from a rumor that lab animals were being sold to the market. China likely at worse just had poor containment protocol. It had happen on other countries so it wouldn't be a first.

I think the concern is less about the fact that china had a bioweapons lab or whatever the hell you want to call it. It sounds like they made a mistake, and the cover up is the problem. The lies and deceit is going to wreck the global economy and it isnt even close to being over yet

Well there is no evidence it came out of the Wuhan Hunan seafood market either, but that is the other likely scenario.

The only certainty soo far is that it came out of Wuhan and is most similar to coronaviruses found in horsebats in Hunan . 2nd greatest similarity is to a coronavirus found in Asian pangolins.

Sadly, when it comes to trump, until more substantial proof is provided, you automatically assume he is either outright lying, talking up some BS he read on a random blog as fact , or exaggerating things wildly out of proportion.

The entire world has been staring at it for 4 or 5 months and still doesn't have it completely figured out. He was just going by what US intel told him, since Mike Pompeo came out today on TV and said the same thing.

Now ofcourse one could argue that Trump is lying about what US intel told him or US intel is lying. But if the former, I would think people would have come out and contradicted him by now.

Vast majority would be bankrupted by any major medical care. This pandemic is going to shred people financially and medical bills are the main reason people file for bankruptcy. There is a group of people that are completely cashed out. This and the financial recession will leave a lot of people with little for retirement. As wealthy as this nation is, it is inexcusable.

If this came from the lab, then the " incompetence " is the accidental escape from containment at one of the 2 labs in Wuhan, due to laxed safety measures.
The " malicious " is the deliberate cover-up , lies and allowing people to leave China while within China strict travel restrictions were put in place. And while people were leaving China, the CCP and the WHO castigated other countries for wanting to enact measure against travellers from China.

If this came from an animal at the Wuhan Hunan seafood market, then China deserves criticism for:
a) not shutting down exotic animal species wet-markets after SARS in 2002. China was repeadtedly warned over the years that these wet-markets are ticking time-bombs.
b) the deliberate cover-up , lies and allowing people to leave China while within China strict travel restrictions were put in place. And while people were leaving China, the CCP and the WHO castigated other countries for wanting to enact measure against travellers from China.

Has it come out yet that he was right and already had info like everything from the internal use of UV lights all the way back to they bugged Trump Tower that the NYT later confirmed?
I mean, he clearly says shit he's not supposed to, but when it's something like that and as matter-of-fact as he seemed to be indicating his belief to be, I expect it to come out that it is from a lab, myself.

There are thousands of wet markets in China. This virus just happened to come from a Wet Market near a virology lab studying bat coronaviruses....

A lab that American inspectors said had lax safety measures....

And China is not allowing the WHO to conduct an investigation....

And China attacked Australia for calling for an independent global investigation....

And Chinese authorities coverd-up the spread at the start and ordered samples destroyed and enacted a gag order on academic papers discussing the virus.....

And SARS twice escaped from a Beijing lab....

And a mere 16 hours after my post at 9PM last night...

You know it came from a lab the way Trump was speaking (out of turn, in all likelihood---earlier than his advisors hoped).

Not that it changes much. Wet markets or lab, it still comes down to China being irresponsible and dangerously secretive and corrupt.
