True, it would probably be very hard for him to acquire all the new skills necessary in MMA. The crazy thing is that Saenchai won the Fighter of the Year award 10 years apart and has been on top for 20 years, mostly because he takes very little damage in comparison to other fighters.

Seriously though, in the west Muay Thai doesn't have the level of crossover/mainstream fame that a boxer does, or even that an MMA star has. Very few MMA fans would know who he was - it would be like him taking a fight against the current sambo champion or something.
