It's not missing from my argument. This "all thefts are not equal" is the very premise that I'm disagreeing with. They are all equal because they are all thefts. They are not gifts or loans or borrowed items, they are thefts. Whether it's a car or $10 - it's theft. And if someone opposes theft, they oppose stealing the car the same way they oppose stealing the $10. Why? Because they oppose the act of stealing, period.

If all thefts are equal, they would all carry the same punishments. They're not all equal. Just because someone is opposed to theft, does not mean they must feel the same about all thefts and the punishments that go with them.

It's a bad comparison anyways. One is a crime, and the other is a subjective interpretation of what is bad for a brand. In this case, an organization is simply choosing not to be associated with a porn star, for obvious reasons.

What I keep reading is "I'm disgusted by that guy's theft because I wouldn't have stolen what he stole but I'm fine with the other guy's theft because I would have stolen what he stole." And someone can hold that position, it's fine. But they can't hold that position and claim "I'm against theft and I'm defending the country from people who steal."

That's what you're reading, because that's what you want to read. It's a bad comparison. There is no nuanced debate over what constitutes theft, and nobody but criminals are pro-theft. There are, however, debates over the degrees of the punishment for varying degrees of theft. It's not the zero sum game you're presenting it as to make your hyperbolic and rather ridiculous comparison.

The fallaciousness of the argument is more apparent when put it in terms of free speech as these organizations have used it. Per them, the concept of free speech doesn't draw a distinction. All speech is equal. If the left disagrees with a speaker, they should still let them speak and then the left can state their disagreement or counterargument. That's been the position. Well, that applies to Brandi Love as much as it applies to a random college speaking guest. And if someone supported that free speech definition when TP USA was levelling it against the left then they should support that free speech definition when TP USA violates it. And if someone only sees a free speech violation when the left does it then that someone has never supported or properly understood what free speech is to begin with.

That's a better angle to come at this with, than your silly theft analogy. This is more about a group choosing who they want to be represented by. It's not public platform. You or I for instance, can't just demand that TP USA let us in or speak at their events under the guise of free speech. On it's face, this isn't even a free speech issue. It's an organization choosing not to associate with someone. A better comparison would be what happened to Gina Carano, which you could fairly levy some hypocrisy on the right with. Neither are really free speech issues at all.
