Lost every bet last weekend. Anyone have thoughts on this coming weekend's significant bouts? The Dirrell brothers vs opponents on Spike Friday night? Hughie Fury et al on the UK card Saturday? Ortiz vs Berto II on Fox prime time on Saturday? Jack/Bute or Degale/Medina on Showtime Saturday evening?

No thoughts but hope hughie undercard has lb so i can make more money betting on heavy su favourites to win by decision at crazy odds even by the middle rounds.

Didn't get the best prices, but I made a couple of plays so far for this weekend.

Andre Berto (-165) vs Victor Ortiz $165.00 for $100.00.
Lucian Bute (+267) vs Badou Jack $50.00 $133.50.

Berto vs. Ortiz is a good live betting fight. If Ortiz turns up motivated he should win but he's very erratic and I don't trust him.

Like James DeGale to win inside 6 rounds 11/5 +220. Porky Medina has 3 stoppage losses, all in Round 6. DeGale is dangerous early before he tires, nearly got Andre Dirrell out of there in Round 2, and Dirrell is levels above Medina.

Also, fight on May 21st, taking John Jackson at 67/10 +670 against Jermell Charlo, value bet. Jackson was outboxing Andy Lee before getting sparked and Jermell doesn't have as much power as his brother (and nowhere near Andy Lee). So it's probably a distance fight and Jackson is good enough to be competitive at least.

Thanks for your comments bruthead. So let me get this straight- one guy's nickname is "Chunky" and the other one is "Porky", in the DeGale vs Medina fight, but neither one is fat? I guess the former likes the candy and the latter is a fan of the cartoon character? I remember DeGale from the recent Bute fight, he's very good. We don't have full props yet on the U.S. facing books but I agree an early stoppage is a good possibility so I added: James DeGale/Rogelio Medina Under 8½ (+110) $100.00 for $110.00

Any chance a Dirrell loses tonight? Thinking about parlaying them but really don't know much about their opponents

Still very expensive to bet the brothers even if you parlay both -1400 favorites together. Not worth the risk in my opinion. I did make another small underdog play on the Berto vs Ortiz card on Fox backing southpaw underdog Thomas Williams Jr. at +260 against orthodox fighter Edwin Rodriguez.

anyone else think lucien bute is a live dog here?
If he fights as well as he did against DeGale, I think so.

My pugilistic action for the weekend to this point:

Anthony Dirrell/Caleb Truax Over 9½ (-110) $110.00 for $100.00

Andre Berto (-161) vs Victor Ortiz $161.00 for $100.00
Thomas Williams Jr. (+260) vs Edwin Rodriguez $40.00 for $104.00

Lucian Bute (+267) vs Badou Jack $50.00 for $133.50
James DeGale/Rogelio Medina Under 8½ (+110) $100.00 for $110.00

I've stayed at the Taj twice in the past 3 months, and both times it was dead AF. Pretty much all of Atlantic City was. The Taj probably needed this boxing event.

Haven't been to AC in a couple years but I hear its falling on hard times. Shame, that place was fun as fuck when I was going out more on weekends. Been to a few UFCs down there too that were a good time

I've been wanting to go to a UFC event down there. What was the last one Cerrone/Miller?

Just some recent boxing betting results from @jhabeeb1 on Twitter. It's always interesting to see how other bettors set up their spreadsheets. Mine is kind of similar:

Yup. Revel also hosted Maynard vs Guida, went to both. The Cerrone vs Miller card was a ton of fun. Shame that casino closed, it was nice and I liked the small venue inside.

AC will always be dear to my heart. First UFC I ever saw live was there, UFC 50. The first Hughes vs GSP fight is still easily at the top of my list for most awesome fights i've seen live. Used to be so easy to meet fighters back in these days on AC boardwalk too, just really great experiences everytime.

EDIT getting caught up in the memories, forgot to say I doubt they run a show there for a loooong time. With the economic crisis I hear has been going on down there + NY and Prudential in NY, too much money to be made other places nearby
