Boxing Discussion VI

That was Broner's fault, he just sat back with his stupid imitation of Mayweather's guard and ate shots with next to no return, Broner can't keep up a high output anymore, Garcia coming up in weight looked fresh and could keep a high output up all night without being stopped from doing so.

i capped the fight at garcia throwing around 500 punches, more or less what he was on track to throw against saliso, roman and burgos.

i believe that i mentioned that if garcia threw 700 then broner was going to lose

Broner looks to be in good shape and is clearly taking it serious but I'd be shocked in Garcia lost this.

Garcia probably takes it on a wide points decision and could score a knockdown or 2. Broner as much as you can slate him has heart and is no quitter. But he has so many tells that Garcia can exploit, Garcia will be able to find him at range with the straight shots like others have, even lesser opponents have had some success with.

If Garcia finds success early a late stoppage wouldn't shock me but I'm pretty damn big on Garcia's ML.

Like I said last week or so, in all honesty, the straight punches whilst Broner covered up are where a majority of them came from. Even guys like Ponce De Leon managed to land like that on Broner, Garcia is just a class above Broner, even more so at this stage of Broner's career.

broner was always a class below, i dont believe that was not the question going into the fight. for me the question was if 130 garcia could handle a top 140 with legit power and legit punch resistance while retaining his output.

im not upset with broner other than he couldve opened up and thrown 30-40 more punches and went for the ko or got kod in the process. mikey only averaged 45-50 punches a round against burgos, salido and martinez and did 65 last night, something i dont believe anyone figured he was capable of other than his camp because he had never done so before.

you can make a case that garcia won last night by simply outworking broner as they both shared the same modest connect percentage of 31 percent with mikey throwing close to twice as many punches

people saying that garcia schooled broner have a different definition of schooling. i think of a fighter getting schooled and i look at mayweather having a 46 percent connect rate to canelos 22 percent while both throwing the same amount of punches.

Whichever way you class schooling, the scorecards were very kind to Broner. As I've seen many boxing sources state, you could argue he only won 2, 3 rounds at most, he looked lost.

like i said im not dissapointed in broner, his only hope in winning the fight was if he could match output with garcia and his power and punch resistance would offset mikeys superior skillet. garcia having the 140 punch resistance to go along with the substantially increased output...the fight was over.

also, kind of self-centered to hope that broner wouldve opened up and went for the ko or get kod in doing so. he had zero obligation.

Good to see Daquan Arnett fought this weekend after a long lay off and managed to secure a dominant points win. I tipped him as the 3.00 dog to upset Yudel Johnson in his last fight over 2 years ago, managed to find the post.

Quite a few of you followed my tip for Charles Hatley to beat Anthong Mundine, some managed to even get a price as high as 4.00.

I have another tip at around 3.00. For the Hatley fight I was 80% confident hence the big stake bet. For this one I'm about 65/35, so it's not a lock by any means.

I will however be putting £100 on it, not that I recommend anyone stake that, that's just what I'll be doing.

The fight is Yudel Jhonson vs Daquan Arnett.

I had mentioned Hatley training with and being quite close to Mayweather, Arnett is another guy who has previously trained with Mayweather and is also quiet close to him. He's on the up, only 23 years old but I like his style and can see him doing well in his career.

This will 100% be his biggest step up as he takes on former Olympic Silver medalist Yudel Jhonson. Truth is, Jhonson hasn't faced anyone that big a threat besides Willie Nelson until his last fight where he faced Jorge Costa and lost a deicison. Jhonson isn't a one punch knockout boxer but he does have a nice straight left and as you can imagine, being Cuban and an Olympic medalist, he is technically skilled. So far, at 34 years old it looks certain he'll never compete with the top fighters in the division.

Arnett has a lovely lead left hook like Mayweather. He used it well when he floored Miguel Zuniga with his back against the ropes counter-punching. He has also beaten Dashon Johnson as many of you will know from his poor UFC stint. Is this fight a step up for Arnett or for Jhonson? 100% the step up here is for Arnett but I believe Jhonson is the perfect fight for him to show what he can do and take that step up.

I think he'll take the decision.

Daquan Arnett @ 3.00 - £100 stake.

Anyone seen any European books offering odds on the Ortiz fight tonight?

5dimes has corral as a +1300. i think gallimore is a live dog although jet lag might be a problem

Ah, I can't access 5dimes. I've put a request in to the Bet365 traders who said they will get back to me, doubt they will do it though.

Yeah I'm thinking about Gallimore but not decided yet.

They just got back to me, not offering odds on it.... I'd be willing to fade Ortiz even though he really should win this but looks like I won't get the chance.

he was training for a fight in chicago that was supposed to happen yesterday so he is in shape. from an interview i read, it appears that he was in california on thursday but maybe as early as the 25th.

imo, he was hurt badly in the rosario fight before coming back for the ko

Just put a bit down on Gallimore too.

I'm familiar with DeLoach, followed him on social media etc for a few years and as highly touted as he is I don't think Gallimore should be this big a dog here. Like Quincy said, short notice etc doesn't help but worth some money.

If I was in Vegas. I would have unloaded on Garcia at -160. At least 8k

The one damn weekend I'm not in Vegas a line moves like this. Missed opportunity

On both dogs tonight along with parlaying both.

Like I said earlier, wish I could fade Ortiz here but no UK books offering odds. Ortiz looks in great shape and really should win but I think he's over the hill when it comes to top guys (could even lose this) , if he loses this he's done, period. BOL

Gallimore is not as clean as Deloach but he packs heat, liked stated earlier in the thread, took a unit at +360. Would bet the under if I could.

Took Coral +2000, he's never ever beaten a good guy, not even close, but Victor is an old quitter, and Coral is at least tough, let's see what happens.

Taking a shot on both boxing dogs tonight as well:

Nathaniel Gallimore (+360) vs Justin DeLoach $35.00 for $126.00
Saul Corral (+1250) vs Victor Ortiz $25.00 for $312.50

thanks guys tailed on Gallimore and a have a little on Corral
