Boxing Discussion IV

Cherry and Douglas on tommorow, people may not know about it since it was cancelled last month I think and rebooked for 4th April.

Have very little experience on boxing but quick glance around the net, many like Cherry they suggest he may have the better experience being the vet, better cardio for the later on rounds. But some do like douglas being the young up and comer, has good power early on apparently.

Any better thoughts on Cherry and douglas ?

Hope we get some live bet and its available on boxnation or somewhere.

Hope we get round betting for Usyk vs Hunter, after seeing Hunter get wobbled by poor opposition in one of his fights from a year or two ago plus how defensively open he can be I can't see him lasting beyond 6.

Usyk is looking fantastic, granted it's just bag and pad work but he has serious power and he'll find his openings early on I imagine.

I thought the odds were about right for Huck-Briedis but didn't post, didn't want to talk anyone off a cr0w dog given his hit rate. Even then I was surprised how easily Breidis handled Huck.

It's worth saying that this has been an insane year for boxing underdogs, someone on Twitter calculated more big dogs cashed thru March as the whole of 2016 or 2015.

So we are due some reversion to the mean and I do not think it is a good strategy to blindly bet dogs. Remember in boxing the underdog has usually been selected by the promoter to lose to his guy.

its a good reality check for me. I thought it was a winning strategy simply because I started betting dogs a few months ago lol. I will have to be a bit more selective.

Is 2 units a big bet for you or standard?

To be honest a unit for me varies largely on my bankroll. I know a lot of people here have a set value what a unit is to them but it varies for me. I'm up quite a bit this week on football (soccer) so it's larger for me this weekend; but I'm not hugely into the whole unit measurement but I understand why people use it.

I currently have £200 on Williams, if my football bet comes in tonight I'll probably throw more down.

Taking Omar Douglas tonight as underdog.

Taking youth over experience here, although he was outboxed by Fortuna (no big shame in that) he did score a knockdown and out of the 2 he's definitely the one on the upwards trajectory in my opinion. On my phone so not able to post a big breakdown but just putting my pick out there.

Hate to be against you Cr0w, but I'm on Cherry tonight fairly big with 3u as a slight underdog at the times I bet. I believe I posted my specific plays a few days ago. I'm honestly probably bigger on this than my confidence really dictates since I only saw each of these guys fight once or twice each, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Haven't looked into any of this coming weekend's bouts myself yet.

Did anyone else watch this opening fight on FS1 tonight? In a weird circumstance I have never heard of happening, one judge got sick between round 4 & 5 and had to be replaced according to the commentary team. And then the decision went to boxer De Alba instead of the Polish-American boxer 80-72 and 77-75 x 2 while I had it the other way around more like 77-75.

Sounds like the Cherry-Douglas fight could have gone either way. Had the draw at +2000 and Cherry small.

The line was well set near a pick 'em at every book. It was a very competitive fight. The commentators thought Douglas won and they were talking him up all evening, but I'm glad Cherry got the nod as that was one of my biggest straight moneyline positions in a long while with no props involved. I'm counting this as yet another underdog hitting for my purposes. I posted my plays before the previous weekend.

Edner Cherry (+123) vs Omar Douglas ~$100.00 for ~$123.00
Edner Cherry (+100) vs Omar Douglas $200.00 for $200.00

Wp Jim. I had 2u on Cherry but got scared and hedged off 1.

Two losses in a row on huck and omar. Need to bounce back this Sat!

You and me both. Needing a Williams win to make it all up; with my last 2 picks pick Smith if you want a win aha.....

Blindly tailed you on this Jim - got Cherry @2.00 last night when most books had him favoured at 1.80.
Thanks buddy!
