I genuinely think Ward was the most surprised person in the building when he was announced the winner.
I gave every tight round to Ward assuming the judges would do that, an I still had it for Kovalev.

I was big on Ward pre-fight but bet Kovalev way too big with live betting because I thought for sure he was up at least a few rounds and lost all my profit and more. Instead of up 3u I end up down about 4u on this boxing match. Nobody but the judges think Ward won that fight.

I just got done watching it (it's 2pm, I've binged both UFC cards and this fight since I woke up at 7am, not sure how).
I was keeping a rough score in between rounds after watching it just now but missed off one of the rounds in the second half of the fight (I think it was one of 6-9).
At the end of the fight though I had it as 106-105 for Kovalev, so depending on which round I missed and how I scored it, would have been either 116-115, 116-114 or 115-115.
Really close fight despite Ward struggling against the power shots early on, he came back into it nicely though. I dunno, I think overall a draw was the correct result. I gave 3 10-10 rounds (potentially 4 depending on which round I forgot to score) and feel like there was only a handful of rounds that had a clear winner.
Really good fight though, would happily watch a rematch.

Ward is not the GOAT, for you those judges are the GOAT lol
Really sucks being on the wrong end of this and the Johnson decision in one day. Those two wins would've made yesterday huge for me. At least I can take solace in the fact I wasn't crazy at all when I was calling out the big value in Kov decision +500

He's p4p #1 now regardless and the fight was close. He made Kovalev look silly for most of the second half of the fight when he got his timing down. He would school him in the rematch

Ward would school him IMO. He knows what to expect now, when he got his timing down he was clearly getting the better of Kovalev

I'll watch the fight on HBO next week but this is what I was thinking myself. Think we'll get a great line too.

I think I agree. That said, I'm not sure Ward won the fight, very close either way. Hopefully we get a rematch. Kovalev deserves it.

Just watched the fight and scored it exactly how the judges did. Could have seen it go either way though. I had Ward winning 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 12. Thought 4, 5, 6, and 12 could've gone either way and gave them 2 each.
Thought that Ward showed incredible toughness and composure to come back after those first 2 rounds and Kovalev showed me that he was a better boxer than I had thought.

most poles have kovalev winning the fight 75/25. ward bettors should just be happy that they won, at the very least, a questionable decision instead of trying to justify their pick and how the judges were correct. this is somewhat close to a few clueless people saying that there was no way that woodley beat wonderboy or that dodson beat lineker when fight metrics suggested otherwise.
i was on dodson, agreed that he lost although not because of the skill set, and still remember some idiots trying to draw some sort of bizarre and perverse analogy with the maynard/guida fight tryng to justify the decision.

I had no bet on the fight and was supporting Kovalev but I don't think it was a robbery at all. A lot of the rounds were toss ups and they just happened to go to Ward.
