Bow out gracefully Joe

I didn't like Anik at first but nowadays I think he's the absolute gold standard. Rogan was terrible last night. DC is a bit of a goof, but clearly has his own sort of charm and personality that makes him more fun to listen to, while Rogan has none of that charisma and it seems like his MMA knowledge has just regressed somehow.

Imagine that, another Rogan shit talking thread….

Him and Dana are bros, he wont be going anywhere until Dana leaves or he decides to go.

your seeing the TV up close sometimes Joe on other side ring cage side is all

You don't think the commentary team has monitors? They just call the fight blind when it's on the other side of the cage?

Rogan is steeply cognitively degrading with age. All his bad habits (exaggeration, grappler bias, empty pseudo analysis) are becoming more acute as time goes by. His voice is also very annoying to listen to because of his nasal high pitch.

He's become insufferable.

Rogan taught me a lot back in the early days when it was just him and Goldy. But now it’s just getting embarrassing…nobody will call him out for ZERO prep work like Dom did with DC…and i get it, i’m sure he’s got way more on his plate on a day to day basis than he did 15 years ago…but dude, your just showing up and yelling random noises into the mic at this point…you’d think as much as he “constantly seeks self improvement” he’d see the writing on the wall…either be a professional and put SOME effort into your job, or bow out gracefully…he’s gonna stick around until uncle Dana leaves, just so he can say he left with White…pride goeth before the fall

…and another thing…why the 3 man commentary? Anik is the gold standard, but when have the other two, whoever they are, NOT talked over/interrupted/apologized for interrupting each other?
Cruz used to talk shit to Joe. In fact is Dom still a commentator, and if so, has he been paired with Rogan in a while?

Fact about Rogan is he is far worse than whatever supposed indiscretions the company had with Goldie when they let him go. He's cruising on name and reputation at this point, and even the reputation part has grown long in the tooth. But to the UFC's credit, it still gives them a boost to be associated with Rogan who like it not is a megastar and has his own gravitational force when it comes to the 18-34 male demographic.

this 100%. joe has unironically entered in his goldberg phase. he didn't like goldberg anymore, had him outed, never had him on the podcast, and now look at him. he looks and sounds like a total goldberg, minus the epic feel and transitions that goldberg provided.

Also, I'm all for Joe going demented on mic and blurring out ridiculous shit. Hopefully he starts blurting out shit like how he doesn't pay his taxes, or maybe he pulls a Hogan and uses the N word.

I wonder what that guys problem was? Did he get Goldberg booted?

joe criticized goldbergs comments towards the end, his commentary style, and i remember hearing/reading interviews alluding to the fact that joe probably had goldberg ousted. for a commentary partner of many many years, to not have goldberg on the podcast to talk MMA, seems pretty big to me. joe hated goldberg towards the end. now he sounds like an even worse goldberg. joe just says the most obvious shit now and his grappling takes are all jacked up too.

Every event. Choke attempt.

IIITTT'S TIIGGHHTT!!

Just as the fighter slips out of the choke. And if you're paying attention as the viewer you know the fighter is not in danger of being submitted. But clearly Joe does not.

True when you put it like that I get what you mean. Screaming he’s hurt due to a punch that was slightly harder than a jab or acting like a fight is about to be stopped because a couple of leg kicks landed

Anik the ‘gold standard’. Now I’ve heard everything!

Goldie and Rogan was peak

I usually like Rogan, but he was terrible tonight. I think dude was tripping out on something.
Like you, I am normally a big fan of Joe on commentary. But also like you, I actually thought he might be high or something, at least at the end of the broadcast. When they were doing their closing remarks, he was speaking really slowly and having slight trouble finding words, and almost seemed a little out of it.

but DC has a very high Fight IQ and is great at explaining whats going on.. def makes its understandable to a casual or a new person to the sport
I have to respectfully disagree here. I do agree with you about DC‘s fight IQ, but other than wrestling, I don’t think he is good at breaking down what’s happening. Either he misses things altogether, or he is wrong. For instance, immediately after last night’s KO, he said that O’Malley had taken his head off the center line to avoid Aljo’s punch, but that was not true. And this doesn’t even consider his penchant for forgetting fighters’ names, overselling chokes and more.

Considering the UFC and ESPN have him hosting tons of shows and segments, I feel like DC is there more for his personality than his ability to break down the action. Otherwise, they’d have Cruz on air a lot more.
