Both Charlie Olives and Islam are Overrated Mega Thread

If your answer is to just have Dustin, Justin, Chandler fight for the title over and over again, then sure. Have it your way. But some of us want to see fresh fighters in the mix.

I do recognize he doesn’t have the best resume. But we can all tell the guy is legit. If he were to win the title this year, at least he’d have the opportunity to clean out the division as a champion, as opposed to fighting rematches.

Give the man a shot. It will either validate the opinions of his haters or his supporters, then we can all move on. JMHO

Look at this supposedly "great" win streak. You compare this to Gaethje, Poirier or Khabib's recent records and its embarassing. So tell me again why Makhachev deserves to be mentioned in their category? Chandler has a stronger case IMO.

Bobby Green: Most overrated LW of all time probably

Dan Hooker: 2 fight losing skid, lost four of his last five

Thiago Moises: 2 fight losing skid, likely fighting for his job next month

Drew Dober: 11 career losses, just won his first fight in two years

Davi Ramos: Dude hasn't fought in over 2 years.

This is title shot worthy? Does anyone know who half these guys are?
He's so overrated that ALL the top ranked guys have been ducking him for years loool.

Him and his fans are from a particular school of thought, where number of wins is far more important than anything else.
Including quality of opponent.

It is what it is.
When the top dawgs want nothing to do with you, strength of opposition can't really be held against you. It is what it is.

The Islam/Khabib fans on this forum are at times unbearable. I'm just quietly waiting until Islam fights Charles, Gaethje, Ferguson, or Chandler.
He'd ragdoll all of them, you're just waiting for his fans to become more insufferable then lol. Buckle up.

Oh but if you can’t see the skill level and just wash his balls, you’re merely a hater.

Khabib’s fanbase is easily the worst right now. They figure as a challenger they even get to pick the date and location of his TS. Let the guy get a top 5 win against Dariush in a few months. Enough freebies and late replacements for this guy. Earn it or shut up.
You keep saying the same thing but can't answer a simple question, if Islam doesn't get the next shot, who does? Lmao.

I agree his resume isn’t the best but I want to see that fight and so do many others. Guys have gotten shots for far less. He and Dariush have the strongest claims, sucks that fight got cancelled. I don’t like waiting months to make that fight again then waiting months longer for the title fight, having it vacant for a long time and Oliveira inactive.

Islam is great, but it's odd to me how he has so much more push than someone like Arnold Allen, a guy who is basically in the same exact position as islam but in a different division.
LW is the glamour division, thats why islam's getting more buzz than Allen. Featherweight is very shallow. This ain't rocket science.

FW is stacked, but I agree with the rest of what you said

Everyone knows who Islam is, he's Khabib's boy(which that alone is enough of an automated fan base or a lot of eyes watching his fights), also Allen has fought once a year since he's been with the UFC. Nobody knows who he is except the hard cores. I'm an Allen fan but he's gotta stay healthy and fight more to ever be considered a top guy

A lot of the featherweight contenders have somewhat been exposed (e.g. Giga Chikadze), the only guys that interest me are Max, Volk, Allen, Evloev, and maybe Bryce Mitchell. I think the rest of them are overrated and/or uninteresting.

By contrast LW has a solid 10 guys i'm interested in seeing on any given weekend.

Topuria and Yair are still interesting.

I could say the same about LW to be honest. Both divisions need some turnover to let the young blood break through.

lol, yeah we need him to fight a higher rank person but if not at this point who does Charles fight? Although, as Hazmat, there are levels to the game his grappling is on another level.

Topuria kinda been dabbling with moving up to LW i thought. I think he's gonna move up soon anyway,

Nah. He made it clear that his division is FW, unless he is given the paddy fight

I notice you left out Arman Tsarukyan, an absolute beast who's going to enter the Top 10 as soon as anyone there has the balls to risk their number and accept a fight with him.

I should also point out that Oliveira's claim to fame for his title shot was beating Kevin Lee on a 2 - 3 streak (2 - 5 by the time he got kicked out of the UFC) and the ghost of a broken Tony Ferguson (0 - 4 at the moment).

Tsaryukyan alone is better than either of those wins.

Charles' unprofessional in missing weight is a completely separate topic.
He made weight with the garbage ass scale the UFC gave him. All of a sudden the official scale was showing something else at the weight in.

Let me ask you a question. Do you think the .05 pounds gave Charles an extra advantage in the fight?
They shouldn't have taken that man's belt.

The most freezing cold take in the history of Mixed martial arts commentary. Congrats OP
