Both Charlie Olives and Islam are Overrated Mega Thread

I think Chandler deserves the title shot more, but I wouldn't be horribly upset if Islam got his first. I agree that he's either #1 or #2 in line for the next title shot.
How tf does Chandler deserve it?

Oh but if you can’t see the skill level and just wash his balls, you’re merely a hater.

Khabib’s fanbase is easily the worst right now. They figure as a challenger they even get to pick the date and location of his TS. Let the guy get a top 5 win against Dariush in a few months. Enough freebies and late replacements for this guy. Earn it or shut up.

Agreed. And my money (and heart) go with Dariush btw.

The most freezing cold take in the history of Mixed martial arts commentary. Congrats OP
It's still true you moron. At the time Oliveira resume was weak. Now it isn't, this isn't rocket science.

Look at this supposedly "great" win streak. You compare this to Gaethje, Poirier or Khabib's recent records and its embarassing. So tell me again why Makhachev deserves to be mentioned in their category? Chandler has a stronger case IMO.

Bobby Green: Most overrated LW of all time probably

Dan Hooker: 2 fight losing skid, lost four of his last five

Thiago Moises: 2 fight losing skid, likely fighting for his job next month

Drew Dober: 11 career losses, just won his first fight in two years

Davi Ramos: Dude hasn't fought in over 2 years.

This is title shot worthy? Does anyone know who half these guys are?

Look at the people on Khabib and Olivera's resumes before they fought for the title. Most of them were nobodies too. For the record, Islam's best win is Arman who you didn't mention.

At a certain point, it's not about who you've fought but what you've shown while fighting. And in his last 4 fights, Islam has been extremely dominant and showed greater championship potential than people who've fought bigger names like Gaethje and Porier.

There's not a whole lot else left for him to prove. Sure, a fight with Dariush would be good experience but does he really need another win to convince people that he's ready to fight for the title?

Yes, dude got knocked down twice. Gets knocked down every rd
What if Makhachev knocks him down and then Oliveira wins and then Khabib comes out of retirement and Knocks Oliveira down before getting finished as well? Would he still be overrated because he gets knocked down? Dude admits to having horrible vision and seeing 3 opponents at once when he fights but is still beating everybody regardless of that fact.

I've probably bet against Oliveira 5 times. I won once (Edgar against him). He's a dog who somehow avoided losing his chin after getting KO'd like 18 times. Crazy career trajectory. Full credit to him.

He's only been knocked out 4 times. One was the apparent injury to Max where he didn't really sustain much damage. Others were more quitjobs against Cub and Cowboy. He only really got truly blasted and KOd against Felder.

Him putting on weight and not being at FW anymore is a big part of it for sure.

If he somehow ends up doing all that then no. But it bears mentioning that all the folks who knocked him down and then lost were clearly worse than him on the mat. Islam and Khabib are arguably better than him on the mat.

Most of his wins are against guys who are ~.500 in the UFC.
So...

Those are all decent wins (although two of those guys had very short training camps) but yeah, Islam is indeed missing a big, top notch, respectful win to put him over the top.

Exactly! This dude's a stud.
Even against the less than elite competition, his win streak is quite impressive.

One big name or highly ranked guy on a full camp would erase all doubt that he deserves a shot at the champ.
*If he sits and waits, he may very well get rightfully passed over.

Who has beat Charles before his title shot clown, dont say tony dont embarrass yourself

But it wasn't actually true, he was not over rated at the time. He went on a tear beating 3 top 5 opponents.
I'm just giving you shit, even if you don't like Oliveira I like you're posts.

Bobby Green fight - Islam was to fight Beneil Dariush who pulled out with an ankle injury.
Dan Hooker fight - Islam was to fight RDA who was injured and pulled out of the fight.

But ya, let's punish Islam for the people who have pulled out or the fact the entire division ducked the shit out of him. Let's ignore some of his earlier wins are against actual legit as F fighters like Arman Tsarukyan. Oliveira literally just missed weight in a title fight as the champ, but he deserves to call the shots and hunt for money fights?

Who do you suggest gets it instead since Poirier, Gaethje, Chandler have already had their shots? Are you clamoring for Dariush to get in there? You want to see Chandler get the shot again being 1-2 in his last 3 fights for giving Tony Ferguson his 4th loss in a row, when Islam's on a 10 fight/6 year win streak.

New blood, new challenges, this thread is trolling. I don't care if Islam goes in and gets shit kicked, it is his time.

You're going to get flamed by drooling Islam fans.

Hooker win was 3 weeks notice
Bobby Green 2 weeks notice
Dober, full fight camp

All outside of the top 10 and 1 dimensional.
Combined record in their last 3 fights
4-5
Drooling Islam fans? They’re all mouth breathers too?

I really dont consider burns an elite fighter, soooooo.

he has only lost to Usman and Khamzat and floored both of them with strikes and won rounds against both. If he’s not elite, then those two aren’t that great either.

All Islam can do is beat the guys who are put in front of him in dominant fashion. Blame Sean Shelby for not giving him better matchups.

Overrated certainly is the wrong choice of words, more like unproven in terms of top 10 competition.

Yes Islam's resume is very overrated, but Bobby Green is hardly the most overrated LW of all time. Have you heard of BJ Penn?
A LW champ that beat a ww champ twice?
Idk, BJ was pretty impressive.
Being a world champ in bjj before that is a cherry on top.
