PlayStation Bloodborne Megathread, v.4

Lance McDonald has it running at 60 FPS and 1080p on the PS5. It was only 720p on the PS4 pro that he did initially. Not sure how he's doing this, but damn it looks good, despite no upscaling and or any other tweaks.

Wtf is wrong with Sony, just get a couple of engineers to patch in 60 FPS, upscale to 4k, or 1440p, hell hire Lance lol. It wouldn't take much to add in some MP functionality and graphical upgrades too, don't they want easy $$? I really want a PC port, with cross MP on PS5. Hopefully they have bigger plans for it, but the game doesn't really need much, the art style will hold it up with a res/FPS bump.

It's likelier to be a PS5 Pro/PS6 launch incentive and under Bluepoint, IMO, who are only some 70 (wildly talented) people and busy originating an in-house property ATM. Speculation, of course. But Sony not seeing the traction the title still holds is unlikely; fanart, for example, is still being produced weekly for it across socials. Been wanting another dive into Yharnam for a while now but officially waiting for remaster. The greatest game of all-time warrants the wait.

I really don't want Bluepoint fucking with it too much. It doesn't need the overhaul DS did.

I played a bit of DS remake recently. It's gorgeous, but I didn't like some of the changes they made to the art/themes/characters. I felt they were more faithful to Shadow of the Colussus.

I only played about 5 hours of it or so, so I didn't see everything, but a lot was off.

I had forgotten about this video that I saw and actually commented on, he breaks down it well

BB is pretty much perfect, just needs that res/FPS bump mainly. I'd rather they not alter anything, outside texture improvements. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but BB is a masterpiece, visually, atmospherically and mechanically.

It's infuriating the way Sony and Fromsoft refuse to even acknowledge Lance's 60fps hack. At least give us a teaser about a future patch or something.

And I agree about not wanting Bluepoint unless it's a straight remaster. No remake or significant changes. Their animations are amateurish and they butchered the combat in Demons imo.

Bluepoint's Penetrator Set was a G addition, I thought.

Yeah that looked good (although I never did the quest to get it) but I was disappointed in the bonus weapon that you got for preordering. You can't even upgrade it so it's useless after the first few levels.

Ok, what the fuck. I know its supposed to be hard, but hard to me isnt being required to do shit ive already done. Thats called annoying.
From what I understand, this whole series along with Elden Ring is basically for people who enjoyed the first Ninja Turtles game’s water level on the NES. You just repeat the same stuff over and over until you’ve figured out how to do it perfectly, then move on. It’s like a 3-D platformer disguised as an RPG.
It definitely is not my thing.

Show me where Laurence touched you.

What is it about Bloodborne that people like so much more than Dark Souls?

I also just started playing yesterday. I'm still stuck at the starting point. It's like RE4 where you get swarmed by villagers but worse.

I've managed to fight my way through those guys a few times but the next group of guys get me. I haven't figured out how to level up yet either

Other than environment, I'd say lack of shield. I can counterattack easily in bloodborne, but terribly in dark souls. However, they're more the same than sekiro.

In another thread, I spoke of losing interest in sekiro and it's simply because of not a lot to upgrade, collect, etc. Bloodsouls has the entire outfit, multiple attributes, the weapons and their skill trees. Sekiro is something i want to like, but not enough reward for how pissy I'll get.

Sekiro and Elden Ring are both in my top three of all time. I've never been able to get into any of the Dark Souls games though. To each their own I guess.

I started a new guy and changed weapons. I started using the ax and now I'm killing the game.

I started with the cleaver and I kept losing.

Smart. Cleaver is rad but shines later with lost variant or when papered for fire serration and you’re pelleted, for example. Hunter Axe is a great WPN for maiden journey so trust in that when hanging on for dear life and second-guessing yourself.

Ok so I haven't seen any vids of Bloodborn or anything. I went into this game knowing almost nothing.

This is what I think the plot is so far

Some old guy injected me with some blood or something and it sent me into an alternate reality. Like a nightmare world. In order to escape this world, I have to find pale blood.

But why would you voluntarily go into the nightmare world just to try to escape it?

And my character is some kind of hunter.

I've never really been able to piece together much of the plot in these FromSoft games.

You need the blood to join the hunt. Grants powers and is restorative. It’s a double edged sword.

The beasts are people that ingested too much blood and turned. You need to hunt them.

The nightmare is essentially the end of the cycle for this place. All hell has basically been let loose.

IIRC correctly you need to battle the first non mandatory boss then you can level up with vials after. the beginning of that game was rough for me, but I did level up a bit and practiced enough to get good and eventually beat the game. it certainly became rewarding after that hump and I enjoyed the game even tho its not my fave genre.

So those guys walking around were hunters that drank too much blood?

If my guy drinks too much blood, he could turn into one of those beast men?

I already killed the Cleric beast but I been running all around the beginning area and down in the waters killing everything. I leveled my guy up to like level 20 or so.

I'm practicing using my gun to stagger enemies and stab them. I've gotten pretty good at this as far as I know. This game seems more like a hack and slasher than whatever Darks Souls is.

Seems like if I hit them first and keep hitting them, I win.. If I try to fight Dark Souls style, I lose.

So I'm pumping endurance so I can keep swinging without getting tired.
