PlayStation Bloodborne Megathread, v.4

Definitely could have crawled off somewhere and died. She’s quite the fighter though so I’d like to believe she narrowly survived and retired.
These From games are amazing at making characters we're told so little about impactful. I pictured that for her too, she's a such badass

Lady Maria is my favourite in the game, and not just as a boss fight. With lore bits and the incredible environmental storytelling, It's wild how I can clearly picture her and Gehrman tearing things up as hunters, before the tragedy at the fishing Hamlet. She then, perhaps, moved on to try and make amends by taking care of patients at research hall after she tossed her Rakuyo into the well. It looks like she committed suicide at the Astral clock tower too.

Like Sif and Artorias, her story stayed with me long after I played the game. I love a well written/directed cut-scene, but leaving us to put the pieces together, while showing nearly everything environmentally, can be just as impactful too.

If they do make a BB series, she needs to be one of the main characters, her and Gehrman! The doll he made in her likeness is sus though lol

One of the greatest boss fights of all time is in Hunters. Enjoy
I'm looking forward to it however i'm not going in blind so don't worry about spoiling anything for me. I've been watching the Soulsborne games for quite a while as i enjoy the lore and gameplay but was never any good at them.

I bought Dark Souls 3 not long after it was released but failed miserably at the first part of the game and shelved it. I still liked the series so i would watch other people play these games for years, never thinking i could handle the game like they could. Fast forward to 2021 when my balls dropped and i tried DS3 again and beat the whole game and DLC. Turns out i was actually learning a lot while observing and even beat Slave Knight Gael in my first attempt.

Now my sights are on Bloodborne, Demon's Souls and Sekiro so i should be fully qualified in time for Elden Ring. Then i will be fighting blind.

Same pathway as me for Souls games, enjoy it brother! It wont click for everyone, but if it does, the crack will flow, as you discovered in DS3

Have you played any others, like Demon's Souls, and DS1/2?

Edit oops, missed your last paragraph. You're in for a treat with Demon's, but def play DS1 too, goat tier lore and level design, just far slower than DS3

I think DS3 is the perfect combo of all Soulsborne games, gameplay wise. DS1/BB are tops for atmosphere/lore/level design IMO, even DS2 is fascinating lore wise (insane amount of content too), at least the Sins remaster.

Sekiro never did it for me though, but you might love it.

DS I is the greatest Miyazakian title after Bb by a gaping margin, IMO. DK Greataxe pun intended. DS III is top-drawer awesome and so is SotFS but neither capture the atmosphere nor navigation of maiden Lordranian undertakings. Any enkindled ITT who have yet to play, O, boy, a true journey awaits thee.

Nice post, brother. Ciaran would be proud re: Artorias' memory living on in you. On a series, Bb is too sacred, much like a fine ash impossible to grasp but rather running through the fingers; they'll botch it, intentions be damned, and that would hurt the heart. Just my take.

Demon's Souls for me feels very sluggish but the next gen look of the game makes it fairly appealing. I doubt i would appreciate Dark Souls 1 that much and it would feel much like a downgrade. I won't say never, though.

I tried Sekiro last year but stopped playing after i broke my keyboard trying to beat the Corrupted Monk. I intend to go back as i really enjoy the game and it's combat. I'll do so on a high of successes and with a better attitude and temperament.

Dark Souls 3 was awesome and made me a better gamer and perhaps even made me better over all. I was sad when it was over but also proud and i'm intending to play through it again soon. Bloodborne has also been a great experience so far and further helped me to focus my rage on the in game stuff rather than outside the game stuff.

The Soulsborne series so far has disciplined me and made me a less destructive and less negative person. I'm very grateful to FromSoftware and Japan Studio for their wonderful games.

Shout out to the Ivory King in Eleum Loyce too. That badass built his throne over the chaos flame to be the first line of defence for his people.

I played all the Soulsborne games and gave up on them before things clicked in DS3. Once that happened I stopped playing after a bit and went back to DS1 to play the story in order. It will feel a bit sluggish at first, but it's the same tight gameplay. You'll adjust quickly. You have to experience the brilliance of its level design personally. It's incredible what they did in that era of tech.

I had more trouble adjusting to DS2, but it didn't take long. I played Demon's Souls last

My order was DS1, DS3, DS2 SOTFS (diff continent/story but sheds light on the curse, super cool lore) , Bloodborne, then Demon's Souls (PS3 emulation).

This is one of my fav fights so far.

My first attempt had more going on and you got to see more of what Ebrietas was capable of. In my second attempt here i tried to stick close so as to not encourage her charge attack and instead bait her head slam and make her vulnerable.

The result was me wasting her in half the time of our first fight.

I respect the early whiffs; you were definitely feeling for range. Well done, Hunter, and I'm loving the fashion. #gucciborne

Thank you, Hunter. I've actually reverted back to wearing the basic hunter coat recently as it looks pretty cool with the Chikage. Not played for a while as i've been playing though Dark Souls 3(again) and Hollow Knight just for a change.

When i last played i had my fav fight so far with Bloodletting Beast who is an awesome boss,

And i managed to beat the Defiled Chalice Dungeon and had a good fight with the Watchdog,

He gave me the most trouble of any boss so far as it's so easy to get one shot if you aren't patient and get greedy.

Will get back to this soon and get dungeon grinding so i'm prepared for the DLC.

Managed to clear Lower Loran Chalice Dungeon but my God did i struggle with Abhorrent Beast. The timing and delays and secondary explosions can be so difficult to read. I had more trouble with him than Defiled Watchdog.

Darkbeast Paarl's big brother was quite tough due to the camera but he was nothing compared to how hard the previous boss was. If this is how things are from now on i don't think i'm gonna make it.

So I’ve been playing this game for over five years and only just learned that you can join a friend’s game or vice versa even if you’re in NG+ or higher and they’re not. I always assumed it was like Dark Souls where you needed to be in the same game cycle. This is such a revelation, and yet I’m so irritated that I never knew until now. In past play throughs I’ve deliberately overstayed my welcome on NG just so I could stick around to do coop with friends when I could have still played with them even if I was NG+ or NG++ etc.

These depth 5 chalice dungeons have been a humbling experience. Last one is Pthumeru Ihyll which i'm sure will be a gang bang. Even Ebrietas was a struggle to get past and shows how lucky i got when i fought her in the main game.

Also Chikage Vs Ebrietas is pretty anime. Weeb laido slash meets tentacle porn lol

Tried this game 3x and deleted it from my library. Can't understand it for the life of me....

I did a LOT of dungeons and i still always got shit prizes. I dont know what im doing.

Still on dark souls.

I have no idea what I'm supposed to do and how to do it. This was over a year ago but if memory serves - I kept dying against the wolf and remember some hobos outside who I couldn't best either.

What is the aim of the game?
