I really didn't say anything that this is a response to.

Just saying, I've seen this promise of change over and over and over again in my life and guess what has changed? You know as well as I do that nothing has changed.
Progressive democrats do not want minorities to be successful. They want them to be dependent and to ensure they are, they remind them how much everyone hates them and how they basically have no shot in life around the time someone needs to be elected. Then when they've stopped being useful, they ignore them. I first noticed it when police beat Rodney King and its happened every few years ever since.
I think it applies. You can just go on YouTube and see unlimited racist acts and hate crimes...that you say don't exist.

Part of that is true some of it is misguided positive intent.
The same can be said about the ridiculous right. They need a boogeyman too. Its biased and completely one sided to not think so. Thats politics.

Racism exists for sure, but when I step back and look at the big picture racism seems to be vastly outweighed by anti-racism. Racism is by far the most powerful taboo/social misconduct that exists in our society. Its so powerful we say "the N word" even when the context is inherently not meant for offense. In my opinion the unfortunate reality is there will always be the 5% hillbilly racists.

Fair points.
I agree but the push back is starting. I also feel people say things behind closed doors or amongst "friends " that mask who they really are.
I know because I'm "black" but look Puerto Rican or Italian. So people say shit to me not knowing such.

Same dynamic as how Trump is so behind on all polls. But on election day may show different.

Why do you assume because someone says black lives matter they dont believe white or for that matter any other lives do? Why are you so insecure?
I think the racist people who overshadowed the movement with violence and rioting and racist chanting is what makes people disagree with the movement. They've created a lot of division and coupled with the divisive slogan that goes against the teachings of MLK Jr it's obviously going to have people disagreeing with it.

what is racist here?
BLM rioters attacked two business owners because they're white. I also remember videos of the BLM rioters going into neighbourhoods and demanding white people give up their homes to black people. That's the type of racist rioting I was referring to.

were those people then required to hand over their homes? if not, hard to see any sort of power imbalance that is inherent in an act of racism.

There's been no reform and there won't be. All you're seeing right now is police afraid to interact with black people for fear of being fired. Lets revisit this in a year, after the election. Lets see how much has changed.
well there has been a direct change in laws and bills have been enacted to directly affect police interaction with POC. that’s not an opinion i hold, that’s a fact. we’ll see what happens on the particulars of how it’s enforced.

if police are held more accountable across the board, that’s obviously a great thing. police treat white people like shit too, i agree. violence at the hands of police does affect people of color disproportionately, though.

.
But see, thats what I'm talking about. We didn't correct the problem, we pretended to make special rules for black people. Black people are still going to get arrested, some of them are still going to resist arrest and some of them are going to still get shot.
Why should one traffic stop have a different set of rules than another?

it’s not a different set of rules. it’s a new set of rules that holds racism accountable when it occurs, making it harder for police to dodge charges when they’re subpoena’d and/or indicted.

that bill in particular also asks for changes that benefit people of every color, and police officers. a sweeping requirement & outfitting of body cams & dash cams being a big takeaway from that bill.
