Blanchfield's striking has improved significantly

The style matchup made her look better than she actually is. Rose has always sucked at defending low kicks and body strikes and Erin just happened to throw a bunch of kicks at her at all levels. Rose defended the head kicks just fine but she got hit clean with almost every low and body kick Erin threw at her. Also, Rose has always had trouble with pressure fighters as well so once Erin started going at her she started having a lot more success. Who knew that exploiting known weaknesses works?

Perhaps Erin could work on her striking defense and get Edmond to help her with head movement. Both are essentially non-existent.

Erin looked a lot better than Pena ever has. Pena just overwhelmed with pressure. Erin was matching Rose blow for blow while being slightly outstruck.
i thought she looked much sloppier and plodding than rose. i do think she looked better than in than she did in the fiorot fight, but the striking disparity is even larger there so i will maintain....

"Pena-esque, with her striking Joe"

She wouldn't have had a choice. Rose's footwork is way too good for someone like Erin to get on the inside. Once 2.5 rounds is up though, Rose gets way worse in this area.

Also, why the heck was this fight even 5 rounds? This wasn't for some interim belt, and it wasn't a title eliminator, unless they're thinking of having Manon leapfrogged by two girls who UDd both these girls back to back in her last two fights.

I mean, if Rose's footwork is way too good for erin to get inside in those early rounds, then why did Erin get inside the few times she actually tried in those early rounds? Rose's TDD held up early, but the few times Erin tried to get in, she succeeded. Erin fought a stupid fight and still won. She could have upped the pace and output earlier, but she's dumb, or she respected rose's power more than needed.

She didn't get enough when she needed to for an easy td. Even when Erin was getting her to the cage, the reason she only got that far was because of Rose's footwork. Erin would have had a way easier time taking down a fighter with less intelligent and static footwork.

Then again, Erin couldn't take down Aldrich, who is pretty stationary, so maybe she still wasn't getting Rose down.

I don't think Erin fought a dumb fight at all. If I was gameplanning for Rose, it would have been that exact approach. Strike going forward for a round or two before making the most of Rose slowing down after 2 high output rounds. I know Erin has great cardio, but just going balls out from the start could have run her onto things or just sapped energy that she might have needed for the later rounds.

Most of Rose's earlier losses have been a result of this or a similar approach.
