I'm expecting something like Tron: Legacy. Something that looks great but lacks the story and intelligence of the original. I hope I'm wrong, but I have been tricked too many times.

Words cannot express my disappointment with this casting decision. Obviously he's going to be a replicant. Maybe he'll even don a blonde wig and flip around a dimly lit room full of puppets. Hollywood seems to be running out of ideas so I wouldn't be surprised.

Question about Deckard being a replicant: That unicorn scene is definitely a giveaway, but that's not in the original cut right? Are there other examples hinting at him being a replicant?

Ridley Scott had to come out and say the glowing eyes are a stylistic choice; they're not actually visible to the characters.

The theatrical version alludes to Rachael being a Nexus 7, whose lifespans are longer than the Nexus 6s' four-year span (presumably because their physical abilities are not superhuman).



Replicants are supposedly indistinguishable from human beings, hence the test, but I'm not sure if that's being said in hyperbole. After all, some replicated organisms have serial numbers on some of their parts.

Who would you rather see than Leto in this movie?

I'm glad they've gone with the "younger" actors they have... Gosling and Leto are legitimate actors, so at least it won't fail at stage one by being a "pop casting" reboot. And thank the risen Jesus this wasn't made 5-8 years ago, or it would have been Shia LaBeouf.

Is it possible for someone to explain to me the hype behind Jared Leto? He has been called a brilliant character actor by some, but I fail to see how the hype is warranted. He seems like a solid actor at best.

He got a lot of acclaim (including an Oscar) for his role as an HIV-positive transgender woman in Dallas Buyers Club. I think that's where a lot of the hype came from.
