I honestly kind of want to try this. I was a scrapper in the QMJHL years ago and still occasionally get in one in senior hockey. Got in a few in the Quebec fight league (LNAH) too back in the day.

I genuinely wonder how I would do in something like this but my brain tells me no. It’s gonna be wild. If it was out east I’d be even more tempted. I bet you guys would love to watch me get annihilated.

Wtf. Even in real hockey fights you at least remove the helmets when the two guys start swinging. This makes it look like two special eds going at it.

Not anymore you don’t. I play senior atm and the suspending anyone who takes their helmet off shit is a big reason why I barely fight anymore. Busting up your hands on helmets is the worst.

I’m way more afraid of landing a punch on helmet than I am fighting without one. My first fight 2 years ago, I didn’t know this and my opponent wouldn’t toss his helmet. It made me really mad so I got it and threw it into the bench and as soon as it came off, he wasn’t tough anymore. Honestly thought that was weird, it’s way easier to fight knowing your punches won’t break your hand or need stitches

Back in the day we used to get around it by wearing our chin straps super loose or even just undoing it before the fight but they closed that up. Or in the LNAH we had no such rule at the time and it was wide open. There’s a reason everyone fights with helmets on now and it’s stupid rules mostly.

If you can keep your opponent off balance, you can do what you want to them. It’s all in lower body

No way that dude couldn’t kill me with his bare hands off skates and I would be terrified of him off skates but if you’re not experienced at fighting on skates, it’s totally different. I’m sure he played hockey at some level but it’s a totally unique thing you need to learn how to do. Steve Bossé can do both though. I’m glad I didn’t have to fight him in the LNAH. What a scary dude

I’d love to see a male figure skater fight an MMA fighter on skates now that I’ve said that. Male figure skating may be a totally untapped base for hockey enforcers.,

Dude I totally get you. I’ve never enjoyed skates of any kind. Not that I’m uncoordinated, just that’s a totally different coordination.. one I never saw the benefit of due to very limited access
