BJJ Practitioners do you have a problem with how this ended?

I was wondering that as well. $1,000 fine for each eye gouge in the early UFCs. Yeah, it's illegal, but not disqualifying. That was Jon Hess' argument as well when he eye raked his opponent. Maybe worth it if you're the heartless type who'd sacrifice a bit of your purse to win the tournament? Kind of like going full force on someone's leg to secure the $50G?
Finally a fellow Jon Hess fan. I was really hoping he'd make his comeback in '05.

See this is why I don't like doing pro matches.

I remember this one huge guy in our class was a powerlifter and learning BJJ very quickly. Went to a local tournament and got his leg broken during a takedown. Just a reminder of why I only do this for fun and have no plans to compete in any way shape or form.

, it’s a match where we’re trying to choke people unconscious or break bones.

They're not ? In jiujitsu matches you're not trying to break bones. In MMA fights you submit for the tap not break. You slam and strike for broken bones but you don't armbar to snap it. You prefer the tap.
