BJJ Guys, What's Your Lineage?

My current instructor is Alvis Solis a 2nd degree blk belt under Carlos Machado and is a Dog Brother also, have trained with the Revolution guys as well, Jeff messina, Micah Lopez, and Tim Credeur as well as some judo with Anderson Leal.

Mitsuyo Maeda > Carlos Gracie > Carlos Gracie Jr. > Roger Gracie > Me

2007-Jan 2010: Carlos Gracie Sr. > Carlson Gracie Sr. > Andre Pederneiras > Marcus Aurelio > Jorge Gurgel > Clint Crabtree > Me (Blue Belt)

Jan 2010-present: Carlos Gracie Sr. > Carlson Gracie Sr. > Carlson Gracie Jr. > Clint Crabtree > Me (Purple Belt)

Which opens up a question...

If your instructor re-affiliates, his lineage doesn't change, does it?

The only way the lineage could change was if he got his purple under X and then his brown under Y? If he's already a black belt and changes teams or instructors or whatever, the lineage would stay the same, no?

Nothing personal in singling you out, just raising the issue.

Not that it really matters much because I'm a zero-stripe white belt, but:

Maeda > Carlos/Helio > Carlson Sr. > Julio Fernandez > Eric Burdo > me.

Apologies if this post has been done before, but

Nope, mad original brah.

I don't believe in lineages per se. I am of the lineage of all my training partners, instructors, and those who have walked the path before me. To give credit to only a single chain of practitioners would discredit all those others who have contributed to my success.

That is a good question that i do not believe there is a clear answer to. It's something i've been wondering about as well.

My instructor received the first stripe on his black belt a few months ago from carlson gracie jr. Does that officially change his lineage if you follow your train of though?

Personally, both teams have influenced my training and style of bjj and i feel it is only right to give credit where it is due. That is why i posted my lineage the way i did.

Maeda>carlos gracie>carlos gracie jnr.>rigan machado>jon will>cam rowe and dave hart>me

Mitsuyo Maeda > Carlos Gracie Sr. > Carlos Gracie Jr. > Ze Radiola > Braulio Estima/Victor Estima > Patrick Martin/Stephen Martin > Me :)

Mitsuyo Maeda > Carlos Gracie > Carlson Gracie Sr. > Marcus Soares > Me

I like that it's pretty much as short as lineages get. I guess if I was a Gracie Barra Black Belt it would be directly under Carlinhos, but...I'm happy with where I am. ^_^

Mitsuyo Maeda > Carlos Gracie > Carlson Gracie > Ricardo De La Riva > Alexey Cruz-Pickerell > Me

Helio Gracie>Royler Gracie>Saulo Ribeiro>Me

I was referring more to the 12ish x world champ teacher, but yeah, the shortness is cool too :)
