He is a HW training partner of Alexander Volkov, also fighting a little in MMA with a 10-0 record there. This is what he got asked on the matter:
Before the fight, some people compared Jailton's control with that of Chimaev. Well, who do you think is more skilled in this aspect?
Skilled? Well, it's hard to say exactly in terms of control. Because Khamzat is definitely better at takedowns than Almeida. But other than that,
it's probably more or less the same just for the controlling part. Then again, Khamzat still actively hits, constantly throwing punches while Almeida
just doesn't. Both are the strongest wrestlers in their respective division.
If we take into account that a heavy Volkov once trained a day with the smaller Chimaev, would Volkov be able to keep a fight between them on the feet?
Yes, I think so due to the difference in weight. Khamzat only got him down once in a while and Alex is surprisingly hard to catch in a submission. For sure.
OK, understandable. What if Khamzat would take on a smaller heavyweight like Almeida? As Khamzat is a pretty big middleweight. What would come out of this?
Well, I don't dare to make any assessment there, because this is all in the fantasy realm too. What I can say is that in technical terms, Chimaev's wrestling looked better,
as it's so adapted for MMA and more calculated in that than Almeida's.
