Fought Branch and Romero.
... after sitting out a year plus.
Fought Branch and Romero.
You’re dumbThe only notable stat in your legends criteria is that he held the belt. Being a TUF winner doesn't make for being a legend. Leading in significant strikes or having the most fights at MW doesn't make for being a legend. LOL at 2nd most time spent inside the octagon being there.
He has the most wins, but how many actual big wins did he have? 2 or 3? And he's definitely not a pioneer, just because he was the first British fighter they really decided to push doesn't mean anything, in fact he came up short in every big fight until the Rockhold win at the tail end of his career.
Good fighter with longevity, that's it. Not a legend.
Jamie Lannister is legit a great comparison. *spoiler* Jamie’s hand is equivalent to Pings eye - they both did some of their best work after losing something that made hem great, and overcame impressive adversityGreat news! super happy for Bisping. He is the Jamie Lannister of MMA. I hated his guts in the beginning but his decision to fight clean, his amazing heart, his loyalty to his family and fans, and his grit won me out. He is a damn legend.
The detached retina - yes. He’s said many times he was just waiting until he retires until he did it. The new damage in his left eye - I don’t know. I would imagine so, but he, and others, hasn’t said enough on the subject. Is there any possibility Bisping could repair the damage in his eyes that these dopers did to him?
-Cowardly talked a lot of shit while steadfastly refusing to back any of it up in the octagon.
You're not looking at his career objectively, though. You're forgetting that Silva and Dan were out of their primes (Silva was still a great win though) and that even most Bisping fans would admit that he'd lose badly to Silva if he were in his prime. And again, you're not taking the "most UFC wins" stat in context. Outside of two great wins in Silva and Luke, his resume is filled with middling fighters and losses when he would take a step up in competition (Henderson was not a great win at the time either, he was ancient at the time of the rematch).
Also, you think that just because I rightfully do not think that he is a legend, that it must mean that I hate him. You're simply not looking at this objectively.
Bisping was a good fighter. But he was not a great fighter, nor a legend.
A guy can only fight who is in front of him, hardly Bispings fault 'Silva and Dan were out of their primes' when he fought them.
All 'ifs' in your attempt at logic .....IF Silva had been in his prime....Bit like saying IF my aunt had a pair of balls she's be my uncle
No skin off my nose to be fair, I know him, he's a great guy in person, and he honestly doesn't give a flying fuck what anybody on here or anywhere else thinks of him, I asked him that very question a few years ago at a BBQ we were at. He laughed and just said he is respected by his peers. They are the only ones that even enter the equation in his mind.
But get back to bashing a guy that put his body on the line every day of his career if it makes you feel better!
...Because he wasn't being offered top opponents, and when he was (Mousasi), Gegard left the UFC, which contributed to the delay. Of all the things to accuse Rockhold of, ducking is laughable.... after sitting out a year plus.
Fluke champion. Then defended against 62 year old Dan Henderson.
