Beware the Jabberwocky!

Yeah, Saturday is totally booked, and I'll most likely be hungover on Sunday ( but that hasen't ever stopped me from lifting before). Early afternoon on the 28th (or 27th) looks like the best time I could get away from the in-laws and borrow a car.

Let me know what your planning. I'd like bring my shitty form to Strength Works and get in a squat session with you. I could use a critque of my form. I have no goals I'm shooting for, as I gave myself an ab strain DLing a few weeks back so I've backed off on the lifting and concentrated on healing, stretching my lower back, and being less fat.

I'd be more than happy to max-out on any lift your doing that day. Your a bit ahead of me on most of the big 3, but I'd follow your max progression as long as I could. Set your schedule and I'll showup when I can. I don't know what days my in-laws are working that week, so car availibility will be the limiting factor.

Santa should be bestowing me with an nuclear-enriched Japanese monster hid Inzer belt next week too, I'll be dying to break it in!

ok, lets make it the 28th for sure for squats and deadlift(yes same day), my plan was to squat, go grab something to eat and then deadlift.....but just so you know, i have to work on that day and wont get to the gym until 6:20pm, is that a problem? i can pick you up if you need me too or whatever.

If you want also, im still benching on 25th. 6:30pm

Benching on X-Mas? No way the wife will let me out for that. =)

Friday Night. Hmmmm. I will certainly try to make it work Zero. Squat 405 and pull 495 plates? Sounds like a blast.

I won't be getting five plates though.

And a picture of Klotz laughing (supposely at Zero).

Then he can go all Rocky and snatch the picture and crumple it up.

*cue lifting montage with "Eye of the Tiger"*

dude u guys should totally play Rocky music during his PR sets. That would really bad ass. Picture of Klotz being crumpled in his hand would be an icing on the cake.

zero are knee wraps legal in your bet or just belt and wrist wraps?

zero u could run up to the squat rack/deadlift bar for PR set in a robe...do a little boxing shuffle to the sound of Rocky...then be like 'you are going down Klotz' and crumple his picture in your right hand?(i know ur left hand is weaker so we wont go there).....then throw off the robe and get to business....

lmao..

you're not supposed to take zma with calcium. something like they compete and the calcium negates the zma and there isnt any effect from it.

I usually leave 30-60 window between my PWO drink and other sups, thats about as much as I'm willing to do right now.

I'm not sold on ZMA and I may discontinue using it. I ususally wo at night and thought it may work to calm me done and put me to sleep. I'm not sure. I've bought a lot of supps previously and I've got to use them up. lol. I do enjoy a good self experiment, but shit gets $.

Sports nutrition tends to chase after the elvusive "golden supplement," I'll stick with the basics. Sports supplementation can be seen as a pendulum continuely swingly back and forth touting and over-reaching one day, and shunning the next. Usually a small study will be published (normally with a very insufficent sample size), someone intrprets the results (with a leap of faith), writes about it, and the next day there is a rush to buy "Vit X.".

Some tidbits about ZMA:

{A 1999 study was undertaken on NCAA Football players during an 8 week spring training program. The control group was told to cease taking any nutritional supplements. Those who took the ZMA tablets showed greater increases in muscle strength, free testosterone levels, and IGF-1 levels. These ZMA study results were presented by Dr. Brilla (a sports performance researcher at Western Washington University) on June 2, 1999, at the 46th Annual Meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine in Seattle, Washington. This study was funded by SNAC Systems Inc. (the patent holders) and one of the study's authors (Victor Conte) has equity in this company.

Another study in 2004 conducted jointly by the Exercise & Sport Nutrition Lab of Baylor University, IMAGINutrition, and the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, found that ZMA has no effect on strength, hormone levels, or anaerobic capacity.

It is important to note that "of the 57 Western Washington University football players who signed up for the study, 30 quit. By the end, only a dozen players were using ZMA while 15 took the placebo." }

From what I can see the WWU study was poorly designed, but I guess that's all it takes nowaday to claim "clinically proven" in an unregulated industry. Bah... so much for scienctific rigor....I'm ranting today....I don't want to work. = )

What I do like:
Whey protein
fish oil
creatine
beta alanine
cytomax is yummy periwo
aspirin

I'm probably going to ditch the Surge mimic for plain old whey isolate. I'd like to slim down, and I've been realy bulking since taking starting the 2:1 (carb:protein) drink. Guess I'm pretty carb sensitive.

(sorry no spell checker at work)

I love ZMA, but only because it helps me sleep soundly. It beneifits my workout by helping my recovery. I think that is all it does. Melatonin and valerian leave me groggy in the morning, but ZMA doesn't. It will propably be less important for me since I won't be having the quad esspresso at night.

Melatonin works great for me. I've already got a B complex so I figure I'm double dipping.

Since I usually hit the gym at night, I'm looking wind down and be asleep asap. Some nights I'm wide awake after lifting. Epsom salt baths seem to help me relax get to sleep faster than normal. I also like to alternate hot and cold packs on my lower back and read in bed. A warm compress always helps to shut me eyes.

I have been taking ZMA since I'm on Smolov, I never took it before. The rest of my supplementation is unchanged. I only had DOMS on my first day of Smolov. I interpret this as being due at least in part to ZMA. No idea of it really is of course.

Hmmm. Maybe it is that good, or is it just the B6?

I'm probably just skeptical as of late because of the Mitchell Report hub bub and ZMA being a BALCO product. lol = )

Could be the B6, I wasn't taking B6 before hand either. The study is bogus of course, but I certainly have been sleeping like a stone since I'm on ZMA. So whether its the ZMA that is decreasing DOMS or the better recovery due to better sleep (a second order effect so to speak) I don't know. In any case, I will keep taking it for a while.

Agreed. When I run out of ZMA I'll replace it with my B-50 complex; see if I get the same results. I need all the help I can get sleeping. My rhythum is off since its gotten so friggin dark in Seattle all day long = (
