Movies Better trilogy: The Dark Knight vs Guardians of the Galaxy

GOTG for me.

GOTG 2 wasn't great but I had more interest in seeing all three GOTG's than I did the Batman trilogy. I also recall less about the Bat triology, I guess I didn't find it as engaging overall.

I am pleasantly surprised to see I'm not alone in preferring GOTG.
I am unashamedly a huge comic nerd and especially a fan of Batman. I easily have thousands of Batman & Batman adjacent comics (Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, ......) in my home. I have Batman t-shirts and PJs. I have a complete set of Batmobile Hot Wheels. I have a Batman coffee mug.
But Guardians is far more enjoyable. I've rewatched each of them, 1 more than 2.
The Dark Knight, I think, suffers from the same thing all of the DCU does; it takes itself too seriously. All the bad guys, bar Ledger, fell short for me. Same with the love interests. Honestly, I prefer Afleck to Bale.

It really is. Especially for me since Rocket is my favorite character and #3 gave people so much insight as to who he is and why.

I just wish they had the grapefruits to leave him you know what, he's my favorite character in the entire MCU by a whole lotta points but if they woulda left him looking at the lights, there wouldnt have been a dry eye in the house and that movie wouldve been celebrated as a masterpiece for the ages

And then they wouldve brought him back through a stupid time travel loop hole bullshit
with entrance music
and pyro

Still surprised people didn’t love GotG3.

I thought it was amazing.

I'm surprised people didn't like GoTG2. It was very similar to the first film. I can get giving it a point off for that but not liking it? The humor is on point, it introduced Nebula and Mantis to the team, Baby Groot of course, Drax comes into his own and is at his funniest, the Peter and Gamora relationship pays off, the Gamora and Nebula rivalry is at it's best, Peter and Yondu, nuff said. It's by far the film with the most character development. It has heart for days and doesn't need to rely on baby animals being experimented on to give you the feels. I love 3 but it was definitely a cheap tactic.
