Better Career: Dan Henderson or Rampage?

they were both on TRT so who cares

all things considered it would have to be henderson
he was getting KO'ed at the end of his career but it was by guys like mousasi
not getting laid and prayed by chael sonnen at HW

Rampage Jackson was the first undisputed unified LHW Champion in MMA. Unified Pride and UFC LHW titles.... by beating Hendo. Never forget. I think it's closer than a lot of people believe but I'd give the edge to Hendo.

Hendo managed to stay relevant alot longer and more frequently than Page in higher profile matchups. Of course he had his TRT,but with or wiithout it Dan is an unassuming hard bastard.

You didn't specify "UFC" career - you're referring to their entire careers - yet you don't mention that Hendo held belts at two different weight classes in Pride, as well as the Strikeforce LHW belt. Joke OP.

Hendo. No question. Only slightly further down from Rampage on the 205 division GOAT list....but only because he also fought at 185 half his career, is pretty high on THAT GOAT list, and had some legendary HW wins as well.

But as you said, Rampage (more than likely) made more money.

Rampage had a Reebok commercial and was in the A-Team, but I wouldn't say he clearly made more money than Hendo as a quick assumption. Dan has a fairly successful brand of MMA training apparel, as well as (I believe) multiple gyms throughout his career. I know that Quest, for one, was fairly successful at one time (despite the well documented split in ownership that later occured).

Henderson by a long shot.
UFC Tournament Winner,
4x Fight of the Night,
2x Performance,
Pride MW Champ,
Pride WW Champ,
Pride WW GP Champ,
First ever double champ.
Only fighter to win tournaments in both UFC and Pride.
Strikeforce LHW Champ
Rings Tournament Winner 1999
National Wrestling Hall of Fame
2011 fight of the year from nearly every publication
Not even mentioning his many greco-roman national championships and tournament wins.
Henry Cejudo is not the most decorated combat athlete of all time, Dan Henderson is.

Fair enough. I was very careful with my "more than likely" comment. And I was basing it purely on this:

But it's only half the equation. We know Rampage made >$15m, just in UFC payments alone. We don't know how much Hendo has made.

I was doing nothing more than making an educated guess :) cheers.

Hendo

Rampage fought a bunch of gimme fights later on.

Rampage:

1. Touched UFC gold. One title defence
2. Probably more famous and made more money.

Dan Henderson

1. Fought a long long time.
2. Fought in way more weight classes and WAY huger wins.

Both badasses. Both hard to finish.
I’d point out that Rampage beat Hendo. Close match though

Both Legends. Hendo had the better career. Rampage vs Henderson was one of the best fights of all time.

Rampage probably had the higher peak. Hendo irrefutably had the better, more successful career overall. Hendo also matches up better against top competition and certainly has much bigger wins. To me, Rampage's prime was in PRIDE. He was really freakin' good. He kinda fell apart in late PRIDE and then had a bad performance against Lindland. He showed improved boxing when he arrived in the UFC, but he quickly fell in love with his hands and abandoned his other assets.

I’d say Hendo. The OG double champ...

Agreed. One of the most underrated fights ever. I actually had Dan winning, but he has won some split decisions that he didn't deserve as well. It happens.

THis is not correct. Wanderlei had just been knocked out cold a few months ago by crocop. He honestly had no business in there w dangerous dan.
And he was sick IIRC.

But cmon. I just wanted to post that picture :) because the buildup, execution and conclusion of that round of that fight was so fucking epic.

It was a good time to be a fan of fighting. And it was always too bad that so many UFC-centric types missed out on so many good things.

It was close to 6 months. I agree, he should have taken longer to recuperate, but people have definitely returned from bad knockouts with less turnaround time. I always remember Dana being Dana and running a line of criticism toward Pride for throwing Wanderlei back out there so soon, as though he hasn't permitted even worse.

Perfect example:

Chuck, knocked out by Rampage. Returned to the octagon 4 months later.

Youd figure with pride's history of mismatches theyd throw wandy a bone.

2007 was maybe the most insane year of change in MMA history.
