I don't think I'm downplaying anything, his actions are no less shitty. It's okay to have empathy for people even if they do bad things or have awful beliefs, it doesn't mean I tolerate the beliefs more than another person nor does it mean I detest their actions and the effects they have the world and others any less. The curiosity to understand isn't a bad thing, it helps prevent cycles if anything.

Hate mongering and fear mongering doesn't work, it's kinda what causes guys like Bryce Mitchell the more you try to silence them and act hatefully towards them even if they have abhorrent beliefs, it tends to make them go further in that direction. Don't confuse this and try to conflate it with me saying people shouldn't be punished or that there shouldn't be consequences either, there should be of course.

McGregor and Jones are easy targets because they are incredibly egotistical and narcistic in addition to having highly publicized lives. They're also successful and sometimes pretend to be humble at opportunistic times (though for the most part, they've accepted being arrogant for most of their relevant careers). They're more dislikable on the surface.

I dont know anything about Bryce's personal life of his hate-speech and conspiracy theory thinking, while I know that Jones and Mcgregor have abused women before. So I dont think Bryce has actually done anything physically terrible (I hope not).


But another way to put it is this - if Bryce was made absolute monarch, I don't think he would be against throwing Jews and gays in camps. I dont think McGregor would do that, he would just do things that please his ego. McGregor calls the Dagestan guys inbred, but I doubt he'd support their genocide (maybe ban them from MMA tho lol).

I'd guess Bryce knows he's getting notoriety which will cause him to spout even more crazy shit but as long as people are listening to him, even if they don't believe anything he says, it'll only help him. What I find interesting is whether the UFC will in the event of a win by Bryce provide him a platform with full autonomy to say what he likes. Will Joe preface his interview with Bryce with something like "Lets just talk about this fight" or if they will talk to him before he goes out and say "Keep the stupid shit to a minimum" or if it will be one where they don't offer an interview and say it was needed to keep the broadcast moving due to time canstraints.

Yeah, I wouldn't cross out Bryce just yet for 2 reasons :
1) It is step up in competition for Jean Silva. Remember it is easy to look good against weak opponents.

2) Mitchell is masterplaner. He will go with the best gameplan that is possible.

Wow, he said genocide isn't that bad after he said a bunch of Nazi apologetic and anti-Semitic statements. At least he's against genocide!

Hitler cared so much about Germans that he blamed a bunch of problems on certain section of Germans, put them into slavery, stole their business and property, and murdered them. I'm glad Bryce was able to respect that, though I suspect you will unironically say something like "wait, but they were jewish or something not german".

Ideally, it's the way to go, but man I'm so fucking tired of being empathetic for no macro results.

I dedicate my life to others, worked for years in education, training, coaching, instructing, and casework, working with children with neurodevelopmental issues, adults with substance abuse and mental health issues, and I treat everyone with open arms and care and just want to enjoy the fruits of that labor, but I gotta hear shit like full adults who spit in every open hand they can, and protest even the most basic human shit, like being angry that their kids learn about compassion in grade school or something incredibly normal like that, and even when empathy and care and services have been available to these people, we've still gone down the rabbit hole so far, there's barely any light left, and are already facing a  reduction in that empathy, care, and services, meaning there's gonna be even more hateful ignorant bullshit like this

I know it's not gonna convince Bryce or people like him to smarten up, but man, it's hard not to think the immediate appropriate reaction is to tell them to go fuck themselves
