Beterbievs power is to ********** much for Canelo

i’m talking two fighters who fight at 168.

Which is why you compare achievements at 168

this isn’t a debate about who holds more accolades in the 168 pound weight class

Yes it is actually.

i’m telling you billy joe is flat out better everywhere lmao his record is better, his technique is better, his footwork is better, his reflexes are better. he’s literally better at everything and now that he’s the same size as benavidez, i wager he’d damn near shut him out on rounds.

He is the same size at Benavidez? BJS was eye to eye with Canelo in their face off, while David towers over plant who towered over Canelo. You can't even get the most basic objective thing right. Basically just a troll.

i’m comparing the fighters. both have a large body of work. billy joe’s body of work is against better fighters, some of them 8 pounds lighter. big fucking deal.

“anything that happened at middleweight against now-168-pounders means nothing because it happened at 160”

“these three fighters who fight at 168 are actually all drastically different in size”

go take a nap, son.

LOL, thanks for the laugh.

I want a fighter not to get knocked down and get up wobbly, in the first place. Your personally definition of chinny is amusing.

Considering that is 1 knockdown vs 3? I would call it, 'less chinny'
It's obvious you've never boxed a day in your life.

The only way to never get knocked down is to never get hit in the first place. If hit with the right shot at the right place at the right time, everybody goes down. The human body has limitations. If I strike you in the head full blast with a baseball bat, you're going down. And some boxers punch just as hard.

When judging if somebody has a strong chin ("strong" being above average, not indestructible), 3 criterias have to be considered:

1. Did he get hit?
If somebody never gets hit with critical shots, it doesn't mean he has a strong chin; it just means he has a good defense. Note that some people who appear getting hit actually managed to roll with the punch.

2. How did he react after getting hit?
Not every knock down is identical. We take to take a close look at how the person went down, how conscious he was afterward, how fast he got up and how he fought for the rest of the fight.

3. How would most people react in the same situation?
Knowledge of other fighters' career is needed here. For instance, we know Tyson Fury has a strong chin because most people who eat a hard shot from Wilder are done but he wasn't. Not only did Fury survive but he went back to dominating the fight, just like Beterbiev did against Gvozdyk.

So far no one has come close to hurting Canelo. GGG was probably the biggest puncher he's faced and he just ate those shots. Beterbiev is a legit LHW monster. Kudos to Canelo if he takes that fight.

{<huh}

He got rocked numerous times by GGG in both fights. Especially the second half of the last fight.

Momentarily, but he never went down and recovered almost instantly.

So by your logic fighters who have never been dropped have never been hit properly? Canelo and GGG have never been hit properly with a big punch ever in their careers? I think you need to reconsider your silly logic there.

Not even going to address this nonsense. Historically fighters than can been dropped multiple times have been labelled chinny, so I am using that standard. Apparently your standard is different and unique. Congrats.

Beterbiev has been dropped 3 times? in 16 fights..

Fuck are you talking about?

Didn't know about that fight. It was before I started watching Alvarez. Yeah he looked proper hurt there. Probably the most he has been hurt. Still impressive he never touched down.

He's tough as hell no doubt about that

P4P one of the hardest hitters ever seems like a stretch. He seems to be more of a physically strong guy who has heavy hands and breaks people down. The question, I suppose, is whether he could hit Alvarez enough to do that kind of damage.

I think a guy with a good chin does get hit clean and shrugs it off. Getting up off the canvas shows more heart than a good chin. There's obviously some physical limit where the lights just go out for anyone.

Definitely a huge overstatement. It is amazing how much power he gets into a lot of shots without apparent leverage though. Plus his strength advantage over full fledged LHW's is absurb, he throws guys off him if they try and clinch him a lot of times.

???? when? post clips of the shots you’re talking about because i don’t recall that ever happening.

His core strength is simply absurd. I think its something his trainers have really, really honed in on through his career. Its a real equalizer where hes not so gifted with physical advantages like some guys are.

You can bet they have been dropped in sparring. Someone as elusive as Canelo can limit the punches full taken to a minimum. Thats more important for his "chin" than the ability to absorb.. What is defined as chin are often fighters being able to take the sting out of near every punch by tiny adaptions.
GGG f.e. is a master in doing that.

I think it's a mix of natural punch resistance and active subtle defence like rolling with the shots. The best HW chin in history was George Chuvalo and he admitted he took shots better because he had a naturally short neck, big head and he also strengthened his neck and jaw BUT he also alluded to the fact that he was good defensively with his head position in that he hardly got hit around the jaw.
