What I SAW happen was how Ryan berates his students when coaching, as well as KBEVOLVE with him treating you the same way IN PERSON. So lets stop putting words in peoples mouth and nice try, not DONNIE, lolz....

I trained at Lloyd's in 07-08. Ryan taught most classes. He is one of the most subdued and intelligent people I've seen in the sport. I honestly can attest for how honest and polite the guy is.

The Maryland Daily Record recently ran a three part investigative report on local real estate investment seminar operators Lloyd and Vicki Irvin, a Prince George’s County couple who bill themselves as the King and Queen of Real Estate Investing. Reportedly, Mr. Irvin also counts a martial arts academy and cosmetic dentistry among his sidelines, even though he reportedly is not licensed to practice dentistry in Maryland, Virginia or Washington, D.C. From the report:


•The Web site for Lloyd Irvin’s martial arts academy contains a link to what appears to be yet another sideline of Irvin’s: cosmetic dentistry. That site, cosmetic-dentistry-maryland.com, says that “Dr Lloyd Irvin is a Cosmetic Dentist whose practice is located in Clinton Maryland.” Irvin, the site says, has “performed cosmetic dentistry on kids, adults and has performed cosmetic dentistry through the Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC” and “is now offering Cosmetic Operations starting at $15,000.” Lloyd Irvin is not a dentist licensed to practice in Maryland, Virginia or Washington, according to local licensing agencies. [...] According to the Web site for Lloyd Irvin’s martial arts academy, lloydirvin.com, Irvin has “taught many different law enforcement and military agencies including the Secret Service, FBI, NAVY SEALS, DEA, SWAT and Bounty Hunters.”

actually the blog was private for quite some time before that post. Someone told me that devnull may have been devlin kostal several weeks before that post and the blog was already private. Not until he started bringing up the fact that he was a blogger and traveled and took pictures for some well known organizations (fightworks podcast in the case of devlin) did I call him out and ask if that was his blog.

But I still haven't seen any connection between devlin and lloyd, though devlin was out here for a while and trained with ryan for a bit (don't know what happened to him since). Also, devlin is american as far as I can tell, and wouldn't be ESL. Anyway I don't know what to believe, except that devnull is a TLI shill and always has been - despite efforts initially to act passive and as a disinterested observer.

Just popping in to say- Dev Kostal is definitely NOT devnull. I've met Dev in person (he's American) and I am good friends with him. He had been living abroad for quite some time and made his blog private a fair bit ago, due in part to his employment (he is NOT a journalist) and security/privacy restrictions imposed on him by his employer. He did attend a class or two at Ryan's while briefly in the US for training connected with his work. He has never been affiliated in any way with TLI, to my knowledge, and isn't even participating in BJJ, blogging, etc any more. In fact most of the time he does not have internet access-- certainly not while he is abroad (for the same security/privacy reasons) although he might have it while in the States for short periods.

Ryan's statement was released isolated from anybody else, and I haven't seen or heard any involvement with Tom Callos directly or indirectly other than mutual disdain for Lloyd Irvin.

Let's keep his name out of it. Things seemed on the verge of getting ugly when you guys thought he was Kostal. If he's willing to admit that he trains at a Lloyd Irvin affiliate, that's plenty to confirm that he has a strong bias.
