Best bourbon recommendation?

I can't say I've been impressed so far. I want to try this one:
Alberta_Premium_Cask_Strength_2022.jpg

It won awards and I'm intrigued.

I'll give you an update when I come back. Take care.
Yeah, please do let me know! I’ve seen some reviews of this, and people generally say it’s quite good. Cheers!

Im not a big reviewer/taste note person, bought one earlier this year. Enjoyed it definitely 10x better than their standard everyday bottles.

I sent the liquor a message and they don't have the bottle I wanted in stock. They do have this one:

The kind woman put a bottle aside and it'll be waiting for me when I go to the US.
Ah, the Bardstown rye!
If you like rye whiskey, I think you’ll dig it, it’s very good imo.

Stopped in Watertown, NY, for this.

Tx for the suggestion. It was very good.

A few days later, I go to a liquor store in Brewerton, NY. They claim they have the largest Bourbon selection in the county. I get there and the place is a fucking dump.

My wife and I had fun with one thing: me with a shitty photo with Jack Daniels.

Here's what I bought there:

Underwhelming. Big caramel taste, bordering on molasses. Not bad. Not special. Wouldn't recommend.

Tried this Woodford a few days later.

Classic Woodford. I had tasted 2 Woodford before. This one isn't different. Solid bang for your buck.

My wife and I won 1300$ at the casino a few days later and I decided to treat myself before coming back home.

It is bloody amazing. My taste buds can't compute all the goodness and subtle nuances. It's strong as fuck, but doesn't affect the taste. I'm in fucking love.

Haha if you shaved the beard, you’d be a dead ringer for Jack Daniel. You know, that Old Forester 1920 uses to be so good a few years ago, I agree it’s really fallen off. I am glad you liked the Bardstown rye I recommended. :)

Congrats on your casino win, but just as important, congrats on buying your first Bardstown Discovery! They are just So. Fucking. Good. Some people don’t understand, but I have no issue dropping $140-$150 on a bottle of one of those, they are just so complex and well-balanced, just totally on another level.

They just released Discovery #12. I haven’t seen it yet but I’m on the hunt! I have tried #8, 9, 10, and 11. The one you have is very dark, rich, and earthy I feel like, whereas the others are kind of fruity and jammy. Sometimes those ones give me this fruity note that specifically reminds me of my grandmother’s homemade red currant berry jam. She passed almost 30 years ago, but when I drink the Discovery, I remember picking red and black currants, raspberries and blackberries from her garden as a kid. I love when whiskey can transport you like that, that’s what makes a pour special.

Sounds like your trip was a success and a lot of fun!

@koquerelle I picked this up today, it’s a new product hat just came out maybe a month ago. It’s a high wheat bourbon, 106 proof, for about $52— and it’s a banger! Has some really great rich maple notes, very sweet and enjoyable but not overly sweet. Grab one if you see it! Crazy good for the price.

That's so cool. Our palate and our nose sure can bring back memories.

Sounds yummy. I finished my bottle last night. I'm trying not to drink liquor until my birthday. Then I'm going to treat myself to something special.

I can’t complain about it. Canadian whiskey sucks IMO. I’m glad to have a bottle made here, available here that I actually like. It’s got the spice, it’s got the proof and it’s got a pretty well rounded taste too. Not often you get that in a Canadian bottle.

Michter’s rye blows anytbing Canadian out of the water I find. The JD single barrel, cask strength rye is also much better than any Canadian stuff. We talk up our weak, 80 proof, young ryes like they mean anything and it’s sad. I’m glad finally we have a bottle that can punch back.

Canadian whiskey needs some tighter standards. I think a lot of it sucks because there’s no regulations from making a 3 year old pisswater rye full of neutral grain spirits. I’m still mad I bought and got excited about the JP Wiser 23. Damn.

Makers 46 is a medium priced option that I enjoy. Maker's Mark has something called the Ambassador's Club. @fingercuffs and @Kaybee have joined and I'm sure a few others did too. Free yearly gifts and a barrel with your name on it. Maker's really cares about their customers and for that reason alone, I'm always loyal to them.
I love Makers Mark but haven't had their Maker 46 yet what is it like?

@BFoe
DO you know these 2 bottles:
15113121-1_1722365884.png
15298292-1_1717772284.png
I have heard of both brands but haven’t tried either of them.
The same distillery that makes the Ezra Brooks also does the Old Ezra 7 Year bourbon and 7 Year rye, and I like both of those.

I just got another bottle of this on clearance 50% off. LOL.

If you can find it on sale I would recommend Black Fox whiskeys.

To be honest they are $20-$50 too much per bottle but worth a try the outdoor aging gives it something unique.

I also like last mountain distillery for another smaller brand. Not great but better than CC, wisers, crown royal, and most other large Canadian whiskey brands

You will like it if you like regular makers. It’s very similar but just with more rounded flavour. It’s worth trying
Then I'll have to find a small bottle of it that if I don't like it, and I'm sure I will, then wouldn't of spent to much.

It's smoother than the traditional Makers. Rich notes of wood and just a very drinkable bourbon. I have made an Old Fashioned with it and it was spectacular. This thread was from a while ago but I stand by Makers.

Makers 101 is also a very solid and afdordable choice, if you can find it.

I'm like 15 minutes from Bardstown right now. You want me to check if she's lying?
