Best bourbon recommendation?

Small batch
Nice, can’t go wrong with Elijah Craig.
Have you ever tried Elijah Craig Toasted? Up until recently, it was allocated, meaning they only made limited amounts, but that’s not the case anymore. It should be pretty easy to find, about $55 or so, and is a nice step up from the standard EC Small Batch.

Have not, tbh not the best alcohol selection where I live.

I agree about the Scotch part. Although I've found some great blends so I'm not particular about it being single malt.

But good Scotch is so awesome that it's ruined other types of liquor for me. Every time I drink bourbon I find myself sitting there wishing it was a good Scotch.
Tbh even if the sophisticated drink scotch I simply don't like it. I prefer Bourbon.

Russell’s is a Wild Turkey product as well. Their single barrels are all between 8-10 years old and 110 proof, and are delicious. If you are in the mood for something lower proof, the Russell’s 10 Year is 90 proof and between $30-$40. They look like this:

If you liked Rare Breed, you’ll like these as well.
Thanks again for your suggestion. I ended buying:
-Russell's 10 y.o.:I really liked it.
-Knob Creek 12 y.o.: I don't think you can go wrong with them (except that maple garbage)
-Heaven's Door Ascension: Meh. I used to love the brand. Maybe my tastes are changing.

I'll be in the Syracuse area for 10 days in September. Do you know any of these Bourbons?

Everyday Bourbon - Woodford Reserve no reason to buy another IMO. It's king of the upper mid level. For good stuff Blantons unless you got alot of money then Pappys

Enjoyed Bourbon for a long time, a Makers Mark fan from way back.

Save some cash, go "slumming" and try Evan Williams Honey Bourbon.

You can thank me later. :)

That Rabbit Hole Dareinger is good stuff. I like Rabbit Hole a lot, but I kinda stopped buying it because I think they price their stuff a bit too high for what you get.

But dang, I just searched Quebec liquor at saq.com, and bourbon is tough to come by it seems! Slim selection and prices are crazy.

But since you posted that Rabbit Hole with the sherry finish, check out this guy that I have. This is a 122 proof blend of 12 Year Canadian Rye, along with 15, 23, and 25 Year Canadian Corn Whiskey, finished in PX Sherry.

How’d you get your hands on a bottle of found north? I want to try it but it far from lives up to its name. I’m in Nova Scotia. I assume you’re in alberta with private liquor stores?

Way for it: it's not sold in Canada. They sell their stock to an American company that only distributes the product in the US.

look at the map: https://www.foundnorthwhisky.com/find-a-store

Brain fart and thought u were Canadian for some reason. Yeah, sucks we can’t get it here. Canadian whiskey generally sucks so I’m always hoping stuff like this comes around.

I am Canadian. I was planning in getting some in Syracuse, but they're out of stock.

I’m glad you dug the Russell's 10! :). And I agree, Knob Creek 12 is great, it’s actually my favorite bourbon if I had to pick one bottle.
I know a few of those bourbons you posted.

I really like Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit. Russell’s and Wild Turkey are the same distiller, and they only have one bourbon recipe, and one rye recipe. So the differences in their products are just age, proof, and what barrels are blended together. Kentucky Spirit is a 101 proof product, like an upgraded Wild Turkey 101. Russel Reserve Single Barrel (I recommended that last time too) is right around the same price point, and is 110 proof, 8-10 year old Russel’s. Either of those are great options.

Rowan’s I haven’t tried but it’s made by Willet that you have pictured, and Willet bourbon is a HARD PASS for me. Their rye is very good, bourbon isn’t.
Milam and Greene is good but had a weird earthy note that made me not super onto it. Skip Castle and Key—it’s fine, but there’s much better at that price point.

I still really stick by the Bardstown Origin I recommended. That link you posted has both of those, they’re $40-$50 and so good for the price. And if you liked Russell’s 10, you’ll love either Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit or Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel. Also Heaven Hill Bottled In Bond is 7 years old and 100 proof for $40-$45 and is great (it’s $45.99 at the link you posted).

Like @koquerelle said, they do sell them in the US. Mine is a Binny’s store pick that I bought in IL. It’s good, but Canadian whiskey is bland to me compared to bourbon, so most of the flavor and complexity in that whiskey comes from the Sherry finish imho.

Just as an update to my earlier post this is pretty fucking good too.

I just picked that up! Good but weird whiskey. Really fruity, like apricot and mango fruity. Good summer sipper though, and I can’t say I have another whiskey like it. Cool bottle too :)

Tx!

Bardstown: Is there a big difference between the 54$ and the 85$ bottles?

I checked that Arsenal Wine and Liquor link you provided, and the $85 Bardstown is actually one I’ve never seen before. It looks like a cask strength (125 proof), single barrel version of the $45 Bardstown I recommended, which normally is 96 proof. Very cool, I’d buy it because I like Bardstown and I’m ok with drinking 125 proof whiskey, but it may not b for everyone.

I have purchased several of their $140-$160 bottles, and yeah thre is a big difference. Bardstown’s high end offerings are really exceptional.

I'm going to buy the 85$ bottle if they have it. I'd go for one of the more expensive ones, but the weak Canadian dollar is killing me and the trip gets expensive fast.

Tx again for the info. I appreciate it.

You bet—let me know how that Bardstown is, I bet it’s a monster :)

I can't say I've been impressed so far. I want to try this one:

It won awards and I'm intrigued.

I'll give you an update when I come back. Take care.

I recommend you drink until she is pretty and stop before she gets too blurry
