He is the most overrated figure in my lifetime. He makes the biggest promises ever but he never had the means neccessary to actually achieve them. He wasn't even paying his own employees $15 per hour wage that he was railing for.

What I do think Bernie would have done, is energize people to vote who usually don't vote. Those are the people you need to reach. Not the people who are so dug in the sand. The only way to appeal to those is to be Republican, then anything you say or do doesn't matter lol.

I am well aware of the Christian pipeline towards right-wing conspiracy theories and inability to think.

But I still am not convinced that none of those people could have been reached. You seem to maybe have a chip on your shoulder about it and are unable to think clearly. All those people are individuals, some of whom could have easily been reached when a manufacturing job was saved by Bernie or when their family got cancer and they had universal health care and didn't go bankrupt.

And don't forget Bernie's promise to use the bully pulpit in a similar way that Trump sis only by telling the truth instead of lying constantly. A big part of his plan was to speak to the American people regularly exposing corruption and b******* and telling the truth and the average blue color man can hear that.

If you tell the truth over and over and over people will believe it. Bernie really understood this and openly said that he planned to use the bully pulpit in a way no president had done before.

I have to disagree with this entirely. Are you really running with Biden still being racist? He played second fiddle to a younger black guy for 8 years despite having much more experience than him. A racist wouldn't be able to put their misplaced pride aside for something like that.

Ironically, Bernie even voted in favor for a lot for those anti-drug bills and he was against bussing too thats why he shut up when Biden was getting cooked for it during the debates.

I don't have time to get to all this but fair enough. Meow what happens when you apply that same critical lens to Biden (if u don't vote for me u ain't black!) and Hillary?

Didn't they just do that and lost in a landslide? The Dems alienated the left and Harris got her ass handed to her. Same with Clinton in 2016. If Dems alienate the left then who is their base? Centrist Dems (that often side with Repub interests) that don't do anything and middle ground Repubs who we saw this election are still going to vote Republican even if you campaign with them.

All the polls I see as well seem to suggest most potential socialist policies have pretty dam strong support from the US public as well, things like shifts towards more universal healthcare.

I feel like if your looking at the real nature of the voting public then they tend to be socially more conservative than the mainstream dems BUT economically more left wing(and more anti war) than them.

I mean really a lot of Trumps rhetoric is taking aim at the same targets economically isnt it? just its mostly broad popularist bollocks which will have very little positive effect if it even takes any real policy form at all.

I understand where you are coming from. Unless you live among these people every day, it's pretty hard to believe.

One thing that I have, that 99.9% of liberals don't, is that I literally grew up in one of the reddest and also poorest areas of the entire country.

I always get a laugh at people talking about what shit holes places like San Fran and Chicago are.

These people need to venture out of the suburbs and into the abandoned mining wastelands of eastern Kentucky if they want to understand what poor communities are like.

These people know Jesus and guns. Everything else is flying right over their heads. Anyone who is likely to be persuaded by someone like Bernie already has left the area looking for jobs.
