he said he doesn't care who it is the will lose in an mma fight. "Its not what we do"-bernard hopkins

Hopkins knows the score, no doubt about that.

David Haye too.

I imagine a lot of pro boxers actually know this, especially those who have taken the plunge and done a couple of MMA workouts to see what it's like, but are reluctant to admit it because after all, boxing is their way to make a living and there's no sense in shooting down your own sport.

Boxing and mma are two different sports..

anybody that thinks having Toney step in with one of the best wrestlers the ufc has to offer is going to prove anything other than the fact that Couture wrestles better than Toney is crazy.

Two different sports.

He'll boxers don't transition well into kickboxing.

And to be fair an elite MMA fighter would not do well in a boxing match against a top guy.

Ok give us the names of some elite Boxers that tried Kickboxing in their prime.

I just have to say that B Hop is the man.
Never bet against him or what he says.
Thats is all.

The BEST combat-athletes will ALWAYS go where the BEST money is.
If they have the ability to compete there, that's where they'll be.

$12 million/fight plus a percentage of PPV revenue contrasted with Shane Carwin's 40 thousand payday against Lesnar in UFC's self-proclaimed "Biggest Fight in UFC History."

.

This is a tired old argument. Yes, the best natural athletes tend to go where they will make the most money. Notice the tends to in this context: it is not universal: if we argue that it's univeral, we

Exactly. Toney wont have enough time to even showcase his boxing skills against Randy. The only thing one can really hope for if you going for Toney is that Randy is dumb and decides to bang.

I think of it like a Formula One driver having a go at the World Rally Championship -
both require their own specific skill-sets.

Ray Mercer disagrees.

ray mercer got tapped in the first round by ray mercer. NOt with someone who stood with him, someone who immediately shot and took him down. Tapped him with as little ground skill as kimbo. end of shut hte fuck up.

Tom Glavine had offers from pro hockey and baseball teams as a young athlete, he went with baseball because it pays better and became a cy young winner. Your argument definitley holds some water but it doesn't account for lifelong participants in some of MMA's base sports like wrestling... you might be the best wrestler of all time but your not gonna go to boxing just cause it pays better, if anything you will go to mma because your skillset translates better. If the cowboys offered Lebron James more money than what he gets to shoot hoops, do you think he would go play football? I dont. I agree the salary discrepancies in mma and boxing are staggering though.

Dont even understand the debate
they are two different sports,
Usain Bolt would beat Michael Phelps at a footrace... so what?

Toney steps out of his sport to fight Couture -
it's only fair for Couture to do the same.

MMA is by far more fair to both fighters.

Toney can use all of his boxing skills in MMA
Randy cannot use all of his skills in Boxing
