Social Berkeley, California, to Remove Gendered Language Like 'Manhole' and 'Manpower' from City Codes

Manhole is reminder of the sexist roots of society that expected men to work in the sewers while the women stayed comfortable above ground, even looking down at them.

This is a step in the right direction for male liberation.

I remember reading an article how many very left leaning Hispanics were advocating for the use of the letter x at the end of gender assigned words to promote neutrality. It was funny when Hispanics from Latin America chimed in and we're in awe of how retarded that was and how embarrassing it was that anyone would worry about shit like that when there were way worse things to fix in Latin America.

It's a logical change that makes sense. But somehow correcting outdated words is somehow "crazy". We don't use words like 'oriental' or 'colored' anymore to describe people, would it be crazy to change existing signs that still used these words?

If you are in a meeting, and you talk about needing more "manpower" , even though women will be included in this group, is that an accurate term to use?
Somehow being accurate is a bad thing.
These are the kinds of things stupid/old people complain about. It takes no real effort to understand and implement this. People evolve. As does language. Get with the times
