Not gonna lie …..beautiful choke ……I recall the Guida fight being entertaining…..But was a point fighter for the majority…..great heart and conditioning

Hey man I respect the dude..

But as someone who actually witnessed his title reign, all I can say is well, he wasn't exactly my favorite champion ever lol

His fights with Frankie are all.the evidence necessary for a person with a functioning brain to acknowledge him as an all time great.
He was definitely great.
Not sure about all-time great. I guess he is but certainly behind Frankie, who despite being legit two weightclasses smalller gave him all he could handle and arguably won the 2nd time

Regarding Will Brooks why wouldn’t you count that win? Do you also not count Clay Guida’s win over Anthony Pettis because it happened at a TUF Finale?
Fine, he's 1-3 in the UFC and 9-1 in Bellator. That's still extremely skewed.

Glad to see him retire. I’m one of the rare individuals that had Benson as his favourite fighter. I was a WEC nerd and from my first watch of Benson I became a big fan. I always thought he got way too much flack for being Christian (classic modern day thing to hate on) and being in close fights where he would get the nod (basically only competed against top level LWs for his whole career so chances are they’ll be highly contested).

Benson to me was a legit warrior, absurd gas tank, great overall skill set with no much lacking besides KO power. He came of as a class act and always seemed to be the same guy with his morals and values never changing. Happy to see him retire and hopefully he’s made enough to move onto the next chapter of his life without much stress at all

I meant to say that I consider him an all time great within the weight class, and I'm a tremendous fan of Frankie Edgar. Two phenomenal competitors, right there.

Last night, Bensen Henderson lost in a Bellator event and announced his retirement from MMA. He finished his career with a 30-12 record, but in his prime, he was one of the best. He was UFC Champion, and beat guys like Frankie Edgar twice, Donald Cerrone twice, Jorge Masvidal, Gilbert Melendez, Nate Diaz, Jim Miller, and Clay Guida, all in their primes. That is a NICE career! Thanks for the fun fights, and have a great retirement!

Great fighter! When he was in WEC I said he could he become a top contender and even champion. But alot of people on here thought WEC was like the minor leagues and those guys would get destroyed in the ufc. But he sure showed them.

I did think he was gifted those decisions though against Edgar and Giblet

Yeah his career is pretty good one. I hope he enjoys retirement and the next chapter in his life.

Ferocious fighter, yet shockingly humble. Always a pleasure to watch.

Gifted too many decisions and boring. However, you gotta respect the aesthetics #nohomo
