Benson handily beat Frankie both times and Frankie was gifted a decision over BJ

Obvious bait, biting anyways:

First fight with Benson could've gone either way.
Second fight was one of the worst robberies of all time & of memory serves not one single media outlet gave it to Benson.
The BJ fights were always bizarre to me; I didn't realize people complained about the decision until years later, I had remembered when seeing it live thinking it was easy to see Frankie won. BJ didn't even complain at the time when the decision was read, the look on his face before the scorecard was read he already knew. Anyways, re watched it semi recently & scored it 50-45 Frankie, exact same as their second fight. Not really sure what anyone was complaining about in that one.

I agree that Bendo deserved the win both times and that Frankie lost the first BJ fight, but he has never fought like a coward. Not once in that man's entire career.

It got hard to root for him though. After watching him lose decisions he deserved to lose, he would always get mad like he expected to win no matter what.

He then through up his hands and cried like he was robbed and he because he is Italian he got another shot.

“Through” his hands up eh? Not sure what being Italian has to do with his reaction. We’ve lots of fighters upset when a decision doesn’t cut their way. Benson was also pretty damned boring.

Man, I have always disagreed that he was boring. He just lacked the power necessary to finish fights. Otherwise, he was always creative and had high output.

OP is right!

That being said Frankie was impressive since he was so small.

I also was one of the few that thought he'd beat BJ cuz of his footwork. I thought he lost the 1st 1 and people only think he won cuz no one gave him a chance and or was super close.

He adjusted and won the next 2. BJ didn't adjust and got worked

I think BJ would've worked Gray too. We would've then seen BJ fight Pettis and imo Pettis wins cuz BJ was not a great kick defender.

Benson is underrated. Wish we saw him fight Alvarez Prime v Prime

Facts are facts.
but fight scoring is subjective.

Anyways, Frankie Edgar has pretty much always competed at a significant size disadvantage at whichever weight class he was in. Be it 155, 145 OR 135. In reality, He should have been a 135er from the start but probably actually could have fought at Flyweight. (of course the UFC wouldn't get these weight classes till years later)

Im not sure what you mean about him not finishing anyone or having borring fights LOL he has finishes over gray maynard, Cub swanson, Yair rodriguez, BJ Penn and chad mendes who are all name fighters.

The best LW title fights of all time
1. Edgar vs Maynard 3
2. Edgar vs Maynard 2

So how are we saying he's known for boring fights when he's also known for some of the most exciting title fights ever?

Kinda sounding irrational. Benson is a fantastic fighter and I thought he won the first time for sure, but that's no reason to detract from Frankie. Edgard's durabillity, heart, willpower and cardio are definitely ranked in the catergory of legendary.

However Gilbert Melendez was robbed
Always thought so too, but the UFC did their best for him to make it right IMO. they gave him the sanchez fight then a title fight and season of tuf with pettis. Lost to pettis fair and square and he didn't get sent back down to the bottom of the ladder they kept him right up there and gave him every chance.

Damn shame that benson henderson has his way with the judges not sure how he does it. I thought Josh Thompson beat bendo too.

Yea his UFC run was a long time ago. I didn’t like him back then, but I evolved and have come to appreciate him in a historical context. He was a very good LW. Always thought him and Khabib, prime vs prime, would have been interesting. He had a run there for a while though where he couldn’t finish a fight to save his life.
