Askren knows how to fight, he beat a lot of good fighters and was undefeated for a very long time.
Yes he is out of his prime and got knocked out by a great striker in Masvidal and got subbed by one of the best bjj specialists of all time, no shame in either of those losses.
Ben Askren is still at least a top 10 all time welterweight.

Say what you say about Ben, but it was fun while it lasted.
Yeah he didn't do that well in the UFC, but wins over Koreshkov and Lima definitely mean something.
Those two are no joke and are world class WWs.

It would have been a different story if Ben had been allowed in the UFC during his prime. He might not have been champ, but the "he couldn't cut it in the UFC" talks would not exist today.

Ben Askren is unquestionably one of the most overrated fighters in the history of MMA.

Had he come to the UFC around 2010-2012, he would have been KTFO'ed by Josh Koscheck ffs.

Wanna rephrase that? He arguably didn't beat Lawler, and Koreshcov wasn't even ranked in the top 10 when Ben beat him. Maybe not even top 20.

At best he legitimately beat one top 10 opponent in Lima, who has improved in leaps and bounds since that loss and it wouldn't happen again. Don't even mention the Aoki win. He's a natural FW who was totally reliant on unorthodox stuff from his back, where a much bigger wrestler like Askren should have walked through him like he did. That's no feather in a WW's cap.
