I'm pretty sure black Americans are allowed to eat during the day as well.

Just googled it and it appears that you are correct.

No food or water.

Darren Dern and Mackenzie Till need to take notice

Allah Bless.
Am I missing something? Why 18 hours? I thought it was from sun up to sun down. And not to diminish what he did but didn't they say it was only for part of his camp during the broadcast? Ramadan started May 16th. So its really a couple of weeks we're talking about. Still an impressive feat so props to Muhammad.

Ramadan should be illegal. So many injuries on the job when it is ramadan, and alot of people doing nothing and walking around like zombies.
I'm guessing it might have been at some point during some of these secular regimes in Muslim countries such as Turkey, Iran, etc. In Turkey, the hijab was banned in public places for the longest time. I think up until very recently it was banned at universities.

So I live in Edmonton and am a Muslim. When you are this far north, fasting equates to not eating, drinking, etc. from 3:15 AM till 10:15 PM this time of year. The hunger doesn't get to you...most of it is mental. The issue when you are this far north is the lack of sleep.

Also, from a training perspective, if you train hard early in the fast, you WILL feel it later. The best time to train is a couple of hours before your evening meal.

Muslims living in the higher latitudes should probably get some leave to limit their fasting to 'normal hours'. Otherwise religion become kooky and no longer has any relationship to the historical context when the fasting month was invented.

Lack of water sounds rough. The reality is, if he observed Ramadan it probably just means his training was sub par overall.

But its also worth noting that Ramadan fasting doesn't mean caloric deficit.

Time restricted eating is no big feat, but the no water bit is crazy if you are training hard everyday and taking supplements. Probably not so good for the ol' liver.

Christians have it much tougher, a few Fridays they eat Shrimp and lobster instead of the usual hamburger.
