BATMAN V SUPERMAN Thread v.12

I highly disagree.

Most of the bitching by fans about MoS is about all the destruction and casualties, and the sense of doom, instead of hope.

I'm bitching about MOS because none of the characters created the emotions Snyder thought they did, the story was nonsensical (which is not good when you're trying to ground it in reality, ie. gritty) and the final action scene was boring as all shit. The first third on Krypton also was something I could have lived without.

I love the movie and think it's the greatness superhero movie of all time. Different strokes for different folks.

Does anyone know of any great movies that went through reshoots? I think it has a stigma for a reason.

The avengers, TMNT, Scott vs the world, Jaws, Rocky, Superman 2, world war z and Thor dark world.

and many more.

lol at World War Z and Thor Dark World. I'll accept the other movies as quality movies, even though I think the only reason they reshot scenes for Superman 2 is because they shot 1 and 2 at the same time and Donner used the ending for the second movie (flying around the Earth) for the end of the first one.

Interesting. I just did a quick search online and realized I wouldn't consider unscheduled reshoots and scheduled reshoots as the same thing and most people would, but I'm fine backing down over this point. *surrenders internet argument*

Agree with this somewhat. Winter Soldier was fairly dark; a neo-Nazi death cult infiltrating and corrupting the entire US Government and trying to kill millions of people. Hell, they even had The Redford killing some poor maid in cold blood because she walked in on him talking to Bucky.

Marvel's biggest problem is Can Villains. Apart from Loki, the only two memorable Big Bads have been Red Skull and Thanos. Skull hasn't been seen since First Avenger and they're saving Thanos for Infinity War.

I don't have high hopes for Baron Zemo, but I hope at least he isn't a joke like Strucker in AoU.

The best villain so far was Ronin the accuser.

That was my point though. It's senseless.

The stakes never translate over to the audience. We're left with mayhem and destruction, but no emotional tie to any of it.

I gave it a 6.

Too dark and depressing and the good guys felt like bad guys. small stupid things bothered me like wonder woman's accent, and dooms days scale being too large. Batman and superman felt out of character. Lex was terrible. And I mean fucking terrible. And most of that is on the casting but holy shit he made zero sense and behaved like a cartoon inside of a movie trying to be grounded in reality.

Not enough humour. Too dark...I got tired and by the end was happy the movie was over.

I don't understand why Wonder Woman having a accent bothers some people. She should have one, I think it's stupid that she speaks with a American accent.

Finally got to see it and I have to say I'm shocked....

...by how much I enjoyed this movie.:)

Yes, it was far too long, bloated with forced references to a Shared Universe. Yes, the dialogue was George Lucas-level clunky at times. Yes, there were plot holes so big Doomsday - who looked like the unwanted result of a drunken, regretful hate fuck between an Ork and a Ninja Turtle - could have walked through them and not touched the sides. And yes, every time he opened his mouth, I wanted to set fire to Jesse Eisenberg's face. Then beat the flames out. With a baseball bat.

But when it was good, it was fucking awesome.

Affleck is not only the best thing about this movie, he's the best Batman to appear on screen. Full stop. Period. Affleck crushes it both as Wayne and Batman. This is the closest we'll ever get to seeing Miller's Dark Knight on screen; battle-scarred, war weary, cynical and brutal. The fight scenes rank among the best I've seen in any comic book movie. When Bat's punched the Russian scumbag's head straight into the floor, I had to stop myself from shouting, "Fuck, yeah!" The training montage showed that Affleck, always a big guy, went full TRT Beast Mode for this movie(No Homo...OK, maybe a little Homo...)

Purists may dislike the fact this Batman kills people, but I loved the shout out to both Miller's Dark Knight - "I believe you" - and the OG Batman, both of whom gave zero fucks about racking up a body count.

Gadot did a surprising amount with her very limited screen time. I freely admit I was not a fan of her casting, but she was fine in the role. Her, yeah I like it rough, big boy! sex face when fighting Doomsday was a particular high point.:D

Cavil was the weakest of the Big Three, but even a much better actor would have struggled with the script. The biggest flaw in this flim was making both Batman and Superman, "dark". We expect and want the Dark Knight to be a brooding, rage-filled psychotic bastard. And when it's done well, as it was here, he's too cool for school. What we don't want is an Emo, angst-ridden Superman. The two are supposed to be opposites. Hell, even Zuckerburg - sorry, Lex - gets it when he describes them as, "Day versus Night". By making their personalities too closely resemble one another, the lack of contrast works against the dramatic tension.

One final point: I've seen Amy Adams described on here as, "haggard". Seriously? I know she's looking at 40 from the wrong side, but I'd still hit her so hard, whoever managed to pull me off her would be crowned King of England. Dat bath tub scene...:)

TL/DR: an entertaining film. Flawed, but with moments of brilliance. I gave it an 8.

Lol BVS lost to a Melissa McCarthy movie. Yeah it's over. I'm sure it'll make some profit, but it's not going to be a huge blockbuster. Word of mouth is killing this movies hype so fast.
A Melissa McCarthy movie with almost no push at that. I literally saw a single commercial for this movie and like two copies of the poster despite plenty of time in the NYC subway seeing hundreds of posters

I kind of agree with you tbh

Lol Ronan the accuser

I spelled it wrong and could not edit because Sherdog is so very very mobile unfriendly
