So finally went to see it at the imax today. Check out my no holds barred in depth review below...

fucking meh

All the rumors are pointing at them waiting till part 2 to introduce darkseid

and Thanos has been on screen a few times in the marvel movies. Guardians of the galaxy and some post credits shit

His on screen appearances are pretty worthless. It wasn't even the same actor each time.

That doesn't give them much of an edge, imo.

Man, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and all that but these fan boys claiming this was one of the best superhero movies or that it deserved 11/10 are puzzling to me.

If you liked the climax and are willing to overlook the obvious flaws, that's fine, but seriously like the first half of the movie was boring as hell
Marvel just knows how it's done.

You START a comic movie with the heroes punching people for about 5-15 minutes, THEN slow down and develop the plot a little. If a superhero movie goes 1.5 hours before I see Hulk smash or bash, there's gonna be a problem.

If I wanted high brow bullshit, I'd watch a boring, classically orchestrated, Oscar-bait flick with a pasty cast. I wouldn't go to the movie with a guy who turns green when he's angry and the most complicated line he delivers is "Puny god...".

the sad thing is, Warner right now still has the power to call an audible, reorganize, and perhaps re adjust their film schedules to gain back fan confidence, and show they know what they're doing. Individual solo films should be pushed before Justice League to flesh out the greater DCEU world. There should definitely be a solo Batman film before JL. One for sure to gain back our trust.

The biggest mistake they ever made was killing Superman. No matter how they have him scripted to come back. I mean what sense of urgency or danger can Superman ever be in now?? Ohhh he's fighting Darkseid, what's Darkseid going to do? "kill him"? like we haven't seen that before. Superman gets beatdown? Big deal, we've seen him dead, he'll be okay. Dumb.

You're opinion isn't exactly neutral. Your pretty pro-DC and anti-Marvel.

That's a really good point. Superman's death lowers the stakes for future films.

Don't matter. They are so far behind no one will give a shit by the time he shows up.

Wow didn't even think about it like that. Very good point.

Yes THIS. Their movies have great pacing, start off with some action that's relevant to the plot in some way, then stop and have the characters reflect while preparing for the next action scene or danger. This movie reminded me a bit of Ang Lee's Hulk. There should never be 45 minutes straight of dialogue without anything exciting happening in a superhero movie.

It was Josh Brolin, except for the 2 second post credit scene after the first Avengers. Gonna be him for everything going forward.

Plus your thought process is completely ignoring the fact that the Infinity Stones storyline have been involved at some level in Cap 1, Thor, Avengers, Thor 2, GotG, & AoU. Plus probably more to come.

Marvel has been building this thing the right way. The Infinity War payoff is looking fantastic & its still 2 years away.

lol you're fucking crazy. I've been shitting on Zack Snyder and DC up until I actually saw BvS. Up until yesterday, literally the only DC movies you'd see me speaking positively about are Tim Burton's Batman and The Dark Knight.

You'll see me praising many more Marvel movies. The only shitting you'll really see me do on Marvel's movies is their heavy handed micromanaging that had Whedon walk away, had Edgar Wright (!) walk away and had Chris Evans talking about quitting acting.

Marvel puts better movies on screen and has basically owned DC in every way in terms of launching a cinematic universe.

Just out of curiosity, what have you read that I've written that made you think I was a DC fanboy? Because I can honestly say that, between knowing Zack Snyder was shaping DC's future in the image of Man of Steel and seeing that DC plans to release many projects I don't have any interest in (Suicide Squad), there was a good possibility I might not spend any money on DC's upcoming movies and would probably skip most of them on Netflix.

As someone who collected comics when I was younger I have to say I thought the movie was great! I really don't get the hate being put out there by some. I was thoroughly entertained through out the entire movie.

I know they've been building to him, but what non-comic readers have seen / know about Thanos is really slim. He's literally been on screen a matter of minutes and everyone's first image of him was a two-second throwaway scene. More casuals know who Darkseid is simply through cartoons and video games. Darkseid has been their major baddie in every media platform since the nineties, which is a huge reason why Darkseid is not going to be in Thanos' shadow. Especially if Darkseid gets to the big screen first.

Agreed.

That is probably true. But that's different than Darkseid being in Thanos' shadow in the public consciousness, which I do not think is going to happen with the limited exposure Thanos has had to the public. Especially if Darkseid hits the screen first.

True. But what they can play up is the vulnerability of those close to Superman- the notion of others dying at Darkseid's hand and Superman's inability to stop him from killing them.

Ang Lee's Hulk was next level bore in my opinion.

Batman vs. Superman may have been murky and dialogue heavy but I was generally entertained or at least interested for the duration.

I don't think I've ever checked my watch more in a theater than Ang Lee's Hulk.

LOL at pretending Marvel movies are good.

Borefests.

At least BvS was an epic piece of shit.

I'm not typically the type of person to nitpick every little plot hole in a movie, but I spent so much of the movie thinking why is this happening, why would that person do that, why is this person reacting in this way to this event? It was so drawn out and boring and filled with people doing and saying things that made no sense:

1. Why would the bat brand encourage criminals to kill other criminals?

2. Why is Bruce so completely sure Superman is a threat, when he's the aggressive one the whole movie and supes is usually trying to be diplomatic

3.Why would Supes refer to his mother as Martha, other than it serves the plot?

4. Why is Supes so pissed that Batman is a vigilante taking the law into his own hands, when he's doing the exact same thing with the exact same methods on a global scale?

5. Why would Lois Lane throw away the kryptonite lance and then go back for it?

6. It's hinted that Luthor is keeping the old photo of WW to use as leverage, but there's no interaction between the two of them. Why?

7. WTF is going on during the Flash scene? (After the movie I understood it was eluding to an alternate timeline, but the movie gives zero explanation of wtf is happening.)

8. Why so many dream sequences?

9. Why did they show an elaborate action sequence of Batman trying to get the kryptonite, then skip the actual scene where he gets the kryptonite?

10. Why did Batman and Superman become best friends as soon as he discovered their moms had the same name?

11. Why was Luthor given unlimited unsupervised access to the alien ship, and why were there suddenly no hazmat suit government people there as soon as it was necessary for him to be there alone?

12. If the ship could sense he wasn't kryptonian, why did it take his orders and completely disregard kryptonian laws and failsafes in place, merely because he said to?

13. If Batman was so pissed about collateral damage, why did he deliberately lead Doomsday from a deserted island to a populated area, just because the plot device weapon was there?

14. Why did Amy Adams look so haggard?

15. This version of Batman has no issue killing thugs, but doesn't kill Luthor at the end even though he easily reaches him in prison.

WHHHYYYYYYYYYYY. Why.

first of all i think the movie alone is great, but i really like how they set up other JL member

after you watch this movie, you are going to be very excited for all individual JL member to have their own movie.

Honestly, I can answer every single one of those questions and have been doing it non-stop on the Superherohype forums, I'll try to get around to it. But its been really tiring answering the same questions hundreds of times.
