BATMAN V SUPERMAN Thread v.12

If I didn't know who Batman and Superman were beforehand, I would have walked out of the movie. The first 90 mins or so are incredibly boring and lifeless. Batman straight up kills about 8 different people and they turned Superman into an indifferent whiny poo ass. They is absolutely no reason for them to fight or to stop fighting, they could have pulled from countless legit reasons but chose none of them.

The cast was great with the exception of Jesse. His Luther was so over the top and annoying.

The only redeeming quality was the two fights at the end. Batman during his hand to hand was extremely brutal, which was great. Wonderwomen was awesome.

So I rewatched the movie. I liked it more this time.

I upgrade my score from 7 to 7.5

Gonna see this in a theater this week. Will update thoughts after.

Alright I went into it having read a few spoilers and basically knowing what to expect, so I feel I had my defenses up and was able to enjoy what was in front of me well enough.

I give it about a 6 out of 10. There were moments where I thought it hit a 7 but I left the theater feeling kinda depressed, this movie was for sure a downer, so, yeah, 6/10.

I didn't hate it though. I liked it a lot more than Man of Steel. And I have to say, every single person in that theater was glued to their seats and some people even clapped at the end.

I actually liked Lex Luthor and found his motivation pretty clear. I didn't mind him acting like a goofy mad scientist. I was able to forgive the nonsense and let the movie sweep me up into it a little bit.

I dunno, it was OK. I gave Man of Steel a 0/10 and this a 6 so that's a major improvement IMO...

Batman Ben Affleck was great, except I counted 11 kills. 3 I am absolutely certain were kills, the other 8 might have just been crippling injuries but should almost definitely have caused death.

I rarely go see super hero movies. I checked this one out, because the Dark Knight Returns was one of my favorite comic books growing up.

I went in with bias from reading everyone's reviews on here, but I actually thought the film was great. I liked the story (even though I have my qualms), and even the editing didn't bother me. I admit that my love for TDKR had probably skewed my opinion.

Anyway, Batman was awesome and stole the show for me. I thought it was an accurate portrayal of Miller's creation (the personality, the costume, Affleck's build and the way he moved, etc.).

latest

I know some people don't like Batman killing people, but in TDKR Batman uses guns to blow away mutants, kills the mutant leader, and snaps the Joker's neck.

He also kicks Superman's ass and has him beat before he fakes his own death, so it didn't really bother me that Superman could have probably ended the fight anytime he wanted.

Like Dragonlord mentioned, I pretty much just shut my brain off. I mean it's a story about a guy in a bat costume and another guy in tights that flies around.

I will probably go see it again, because I'm a moron and my IMAX ticket was not for the 3-D showing.

8/10

I have no problem with your enjoyment of the film or the take on Batma's character, I enjoyed all that stuff too and he does look like the DKR Batman (although Luthor knowing Wayne is Batman seems strange, him knowing both their identities and not revealing them is weird) - but Batman doesn't actually kill people in DKR. He uses non-lethal rounds, does not kill the Joker...he has zero kills in that comic. I thought he killed people in it too and one of my friends corrected me, we argued, he pulled the actual comic out, he was right.

Hmm saw it again , doesn't hold up well , I'm more and more convinced Snyder hates Superman and his mythos , his Superman seems whinny and greatly opposed to the pure Altruism generally associated with the character and it annoys me that Pa and Ma Kent put the it's okay you don't have to if you don't want to persona on him , also he writes Lois as this dumbbass plot device , I love Amy Adams but she is working with garbage and also Snyder so easily without a second thought kill off Jimmy Olsen and Mercy two characters that could have fun minor roles is used correctly , fucked that up and Crazy Lex Luthor is even more annoying the second time around , he is not the fucking Joker he should have a calm calculating ruthlessness like a Frank Underwood or a good Bond villain mastermind

Affleck and his Batman to me make this movie entertaining and I'm excited of the Prospects of Affleck directing it as opposed to Snyder

This was a fun film! Luther sucked, meta cameos sucked, especially
auqaman, who reminded me of a morray eel hiding in coral and the flash, who sounded like a punk ass bitch with a dollar store costume
. But! They nailed batman. He fought like how I would imagine batman fighting,
except for the dream sequence fight, which felt overly choreographed. Had baddies standing there doing nothing until batman was ready to attack them. Lol
and there were moments that I was actually afraid of batman. His thing would really make me think twice about being a criminal in Gotham. Wonder Woman was hot. She carried herself really well as a Amazon warrior. I'm looking forward to see how this universe develops. Liked it better than Star Wars.

Definitely worth a watch in the theater.

I actually liked the Aqua man and Jason Mamoa as Aqua man.

Aqua man are suppose to be the Thor of Justice league, he suppose to be a strong king of Atlantis with every sea creature as his army.

watching him as Khal Drogo, i knew he is going to nail the Aqua man character.

can't wait for the aquaman movie.

4/10. Very clunky and reminds me of the Street Fighter movie with Van Damme. I really liked Battfleck though.

Batman has at least one kill in DKR; one of the Mutants is holding a gun to a baby's head. Batman shoots him between the eyes with a machine-gun he had taken from another Mutant Gang member.

At this point it's going to be Huffing and Puffing to get past 350 Million or 400 million Domestic , and with it falling off so drastically in China 1 billion worldwide , which I would have bet my left nut onwas a guarantee months ago is up in the air.

I know it seems split in here, but I've heard no one mention good things about this movie yet. In fact, at random I've heard two people flat out telling people not to see it cause it's boring. This movie completely depends on you being a huge DC fan, and even then doesnt work for all. It seems like those casuals are just left scratching there heads in mutual meh.

Saw it again and it felt worse.

I appreciate the batman scenes but everything else felt like a mess.

http://deadline.com/2016/04/batman-v-superman-box-office-second-weekend-gods-not-dead-2-1201729796/

Batman vs Superman's tickets dropped 70% in its second week. The biggest drop for any superhero movie, ever. Execs are saying it's all part of the plan, but I don't know how bad word of mouth isn't having an effect on this turkey.

It was blanketed pretty heavy all over. At my megaplex I got to, 6 of the 21 theaters were showing the moving. I think they all were fairly full, too. It is hard to not see a big drop after opening weekend with it out in so many theaters at once.

Update: April 3, 2016

BATMAN V SUPERMAN Plunges 69 Percent in Second Weekend to $51.8 Million

Zack Snyder's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice plunged an estimated 69 percent in its second weekend — one of the biggest drops in history for a marquee superhero title — even as it easily stayed No. 1.

Final numbers show the Warner Bros. title earning $51.8 million from 4,256 theaters for a domestic total of $260.9 million. Dismal reviews and a B CinemaScore are no doubt catching up with the superhero smackdown.

Heading into the weekend, some analysts thought BvS would pull in north of $60 million, considering it had little competition (no new major studio title opened nationwide). Warners and Snyder have plenty riding on BvS, which launches the DC cinematic universe, including two Justice League movies — the first of which Snyder is presently shooting — and this summer's Suicide Squad.

BvS is also seeing big drops in some key international markets. Overall, the movie fell 67 percent internationally to $85.3 million from 67 markets for a foreign total of $422.5million and a global haul of $683.4 million. BvS has slowed dramatically in China, where it was beaten by Zootopia this weekend. It has earned $85 million in the Middle Kingdom to date.

Among other superhero movies, Avengers: Age of Ultron fell 59 percent in its second weekend and The Dark Knight, 53 percent. The only major studio superhero movie to see a decline approaching 70 percent was X-Men Origins: The Wolverine, which fell 69 percent in its second outing. Snyder's Man of Steel dipped 65 percent.

I'm so mad at myself for going to see this. I hate Snyder, I hated man of steel, and still I went. Not as awful as man of steel was, but still completely joyless. Most of the time it made me bored, and when I wasn't bored I was annoyed at the shitty writing or the shitty acting. Affleck was by far the best part, hopefully any future batman movies with him will be better than this pig slop.

This movie was better than iron man 2 , 3 and age of ultron.

most of them are expert in movies, not expert in superheroes/comic based movies.

they don't count the Easter egg, they don't have personal connection to the character.

most comic book expert i know rated higher than 6/10.

You're basing this one nothing. Literally none of the comic book "experts" I know personally like the movie. Their highest review seems to be "Meh."

Im as big a comic book and comic book movie fan as anyone, and this movie was thoroughly disappointing even as I'd agree that it's not as bad as the aggregate scores can make it seem (stuff like 29% on RT).

People with personal connections to the characters seem to be having the biggest problem. Batman killing people, batman being an idiot, stupid reasons for them fighting each other, lack of or laughable motivations for the characters, a waste of Doomsday.

This is what comic book fans are saying, not film critics.

If you liked it, that's cool. But let's not throw out some sort of pretentious "Comic Book Expert" opinion as if you aren't a minority even among the die hard audience of this movie.

well, Kevin Smith and Emergency Awesome liked it.

that is good enough for me.
