I just watched the extended cut last night. It was better than the theatrical cut. But what I'm still trying to figure out is why did Wonder Woman wait to reappear until now, when Ninja Turtle was running amok? Why not make her long awaited return when Zodd was trying to terraform the Earth into Krypton? It seems like that would have been the better time to show up than now.

Because the director sucks. He wanted to create cool scenes but didn’t care about the story. No way in hell Bruce Wayne is that dumb and thinks Superman is a villain.

One of the worst comic book films of the last decade and this comes from someone who’s favorite all-time character is Batman.

4/10 or 5/10 at best.

Zack Snyder is a hack.

Terrible in it's image construction, pretentious "symbolism", bad character writing, bad action scenes and a nonsensical plot that has a lot of filler into it.

You would think. There would have been a legit reason for her to think it was Ares up to his old tricks again.

Zack Snyder Explains BATMAN V SUPERMAN's Poor Reception is Due to Audiences Not Understanding His Movie

Director Zack Snyder recently shared that he believes audiences didn't understand what he was trying to accomplish with his DC Extended Universe movies.

Snyder directed three superhero films for Warner Bros. and DC -- Man of Steel (2013), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021). Per The Direct, the director explained during a Q&A at his Full Circle charity event on VERO True Social why he believes most of the negative reviews for Batman v Superman were a result of audiences not picking up on his multi-layered approach to storytelling.

"I think, and maybe I’m wrong. but I feel like a lot of people went into the movies for going like, 'Oh, it’s the superhero romp, right? Let’s have fun with it,'" Snyder said. "And we gave them this sort of hardcore deconstructivist, heavily layered, experiential modern mythological superhero movie that needs…that you really need to pay attention to." He continued, "That was not cool [for them]. That’s not something anyone wanted to do. They were like, 'What? No! That’s exhausting. How about, why do they fight at night?' I hate that."

Zack Snyder Reveals He Originally Planned to Make the Amazons To Be Descendants of Kryptonians

Following the screening of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, one fan brought up the long-standing rumor regarding an open Pod Bay in the scout ship that brought baby Kal-El to Earth. Some say that it might have belonged to Kara Zor-El, aka Clark’s cousin. Snyder, however, wanted to connect that backstory to the gods.

While doling out details about the Scout ship, and that open pod, Snyder and his visual effects artist D.J. DesJardin confirmed that they wanted to eventually reveal that the Kryptonian ship would trace back to the gods… and that Ares and Zeus would have come from a Kryptonian lineage. As Snyder explained:

"It’s this whole thing with, like, the gods and Ares and Zeus, and whether or not Zeus was really possibly a Kryptonian. So that Wonder Woman’s powers… anyway, you can sort of see where that’s going. Because, you know, the whole thing of like whether or not magic and the gods – there is a version where, like, ‘OK, that’s cool. I guess?’ But there’s also the more scientific… you have a mythology built up of, ‘Where do gods come from? What is that about?’ And so anyways, we had played around with that quite a bit."

The duo also hinted that Ares, the God of War who became a major antagonist in the first Wonder Woman movie, was the one that caused Kal-El’s scout ship to crash on Earth in the first place.

Schneiderverse and it's PS3 Level Darkseid didn't die a painful enough death.

Dude is great at casting, I'll give him that.

But if you make big budget movies intended for mass appeal, the onus is on you to make something that they will like.

Snyder should be exiled to some Arab island

Sometimes movies get unjust hate, sometimes they get justified hate. When a director (or anyone involved in a movie) tries to blame the audience not getting it/understanding it/missing the subtle nuances for not rating it highly I feel like giving them a hate fuelled kick in the teeth. I didn’t even hate the damn movie. I thought it was ok for what it was. Snyder you are an absolute cunt. I shall seed every movie youre involved in from now on

No, Zack, we understood the movie just fine. The reason we didn't like it was because it's simply not a good film. You had access to three of the most iconic IP's in comic history, and you wasted them. You took the all time classic, Dark Knight Returns, mashed it together with Death of Superman and threw Wonder Woman into the mix. You made Doomsday look like a cross between an Orc and a fucking Ninja Turtle. And you cast the worst version of Lex Luthor in the history of movie or TV show adaptions.

Worst of all is your version of Superman as emotionally crippled by self-doubt, to the point where he doesn't even want to be a hero anymore. This ignores a core trait of the character: he's the optimist that sees the best in human potential. He's friendly and humble, a genuinely nice guy. Which makes him a perfect foil for the brooding, cynical Batman, who always expects the worst. Having Superman and Batman exhibit the same personality traits ruins the dynamic that makes it so special when they team up.

I will give credit where it's due: Affleck was a very good Batman. His brutal fighting style along with Affleck's sheer size, made him the most physically imposing Batman we've yet seen. Gadot was fine as well, for the little time she had in the movie. But that's not enough to save the film. Not when you inflicted this abomination on us,

"Martha...you're killing Martha!"

"WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME!?"

TL/DR: don't try to, "deconstruct" characters that were beloved by millions before you were even born. Just make a good movie. The fans' opinion, not yours, is the only one that counts.
