Mel Gibson Calls BATMAN V SUPERMAN a "Piece of Shit"

Mel-Gibson-Batman-v-Superman-Dragonlord.jpg

After Hacksaw Ridge received a standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival, Deadline caught up with Mel Gibson to ask for his thoughts on the current state of Hollywood, and he didn't hold back when it came to his thoughts on blockbusters.

"I look at them and scratch my head. I’m really baffled by it. I think there’s a lot of waste but maybe if I did one of those things with the green screens I’d find out different. I don’t know. Maybe they do cost that much. I don’t know. It seems to me that you could do it for less. If you’re spending outrageous amounts of money, $180 million or more, I don’t know how you make it back after the tax man gets you, and after you give half to the exhibitors. What did they spend on ‘Batman v Superman’ that they’re admitting to? And it’s a piece of shit."

"I’m not interested in the stuff," Gibson says. "Do you know what the difference between real superheroes and comic book superheroes is? Real superheroes didn’t wear spandex. So I don’t know. Spandex must cost a lot."

At no point did this interview indicate Mel had actually seen the movie; I'm guessing he hasn't.

This is sound-biting bullshit, sugar tits!

Love Mel, though.

Started off ok and quickly went down hill. Only good thing to come out of the film is that superman died.

Mel is not wrong. Can't wait to see Hacksaw Ridge!

Ha,

Cant disagree with max rockatansky

Mel telling it like it is

Fuck you spandex

He's right, this movie(Including the second version) is complete shit.

Lol at the "fighting" in this movie. What a joke and waste of time.

Mel Gibson dislikes a film with a heavy handed Jesus allegory? Huh, never would have predicted that.

Looking back on BvS, It was lacking a certain spark......like a wildcard.....a potentially sexy crossover......

The dangerously flamboyant possibilities are endless. Just take it in......

No he knows that superman's original creators were actually inspired by The Moses story for Superman .

I finally got around to watching it. I got an hour and ten minutes into it and turned it off. What a steaming pile.

As someone who enjoyed Batman vs. Superman, I gotta say Mel's point about the tax man and the outrageous budgets is well taken. I mean you're getting to a point where these films have to do like 800 mill just to be profitable. It's frankly mind-boggling to me that you can look at the numbers that Batman vs. Superman did worldwide and be like, mehhh- not enough given the amount spent on it. And yet it's absolutely the case.

Unless you're pulling Avatar or Avengers or Episode VII type numbers for these huge blockbusters, I think you're running a lot of risk. And few big budget blockbusters can attain those levels.

I feel like the diamond in the rough type movies that make a shit load of money on low budgets are a real goldmine but the funny thing about them is they are unpredictable. It would have been tough to believe the Blair Witch Project even with clever internet marketing could have made over 100 million dollars. It would have been very tough to predict that a movie like The Hangover would have made over 200 mill.

I wonder if this means Mel won't be Cable in Deadpool 3?

Are you willing to try and defend Eisenberg as Lex or the horribly shoehorned in logos of the JLA?

Everytime i think of this movie, i remember this piece of gold from https://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/mar/25/review-batman-v-superman-dawn-of-justice

Bruce Wayne opens up Lex Luthor’s computer files and discovers a photo of Wonder Woman from the first world war, plus some trailers for other Warner Bros movies. Luthor even designed logos for all of these movies in Adobe Illustrator. Why does Lex Luthor have four blatant bits of product placement on his computer? Because he’s been maintaining a secret double life as a film publicist. You thought running a multinational corporation while trying to murder an indestructible flying alien was hard? Try selling the Aquaman movie.

i don't think i've ever read an article by this man, but after this one article, i'm convinced he's a freakin' national treasure.

Uhm... not to spoil anything but maybe you could benefit from rewatching the movie. Word to the wise - stay till the end.

This right here is part of what makes Mel awesome. Look how he refers to "one of those things with the green screens."

It's fucking AMAZING now how we have these movies that are shot almost entirely in front of a green screen. Mel doesn't fuck with that shit. He makes real movies with real people in real locations.

A picture says a thousand words.

Michael Shannon Says He Fell Asleep Watching BATMAN V SUPERMAN

Since Michael Shannon technically appeared in Batman v Superman and is good friends with director Zack Snyder, it seems safe to assume Shannon has seen the movie by now, right?

"You’re gonna get me in trouble, man!" Shannon exclaimed to Fandango, while promoting Nocturnal Animals. "People ask me about this all the time. Okay, I’ll tell you the god’s honest truth. Zack [Snyder] is gonna kill me for this – he’s gonna kill me. I watched it once and I fell asleep."

People have had plenty to say about Batman v Superman, but I don't recall anyone saying it put them to sleep. So, what's Shannon's excuse? "I was on an international flight and I was tired," he offered.

Plus, watching it on a small screen on plane isn't ideal. "I shouldn’t have been watching it on a plane," he admitted. "But I never go to the movies anymore! I don’t have time to see anything. I used to go to the movies all the time when I was 20 years old and wasn’t working 10 days a week."
